What is it about AvNeil?

So, I am the latest addition to the widely growing bevy of AvNeil shippers. 😳
I haven't watched the show from the beginning, but I do have a grip on the storyline, thanks to my extra-ordinary binge-watching trait when it comes to a show I like 😆

And while the story from the beginning itself has been something not so conventional like any other show on television, I'm glad to say that even now the story has held its ground and in all possibilities is also trying to stand out of the hustling bustling crowd of the same old television soap opera stories.

Now, coming to the topic: AvNeil.

These two.. I don't know what to say about them.
Their story is something I haven't really seen unfold between any other onscreen television couple. And this is alongside the fact that there's only so little makers can do with a love story on Indian TV, courtesy, restrictions, the kind of audience (TRP audience) India has, etc.

YET, there's always, always SO MUCH to look for, when it comes to AvNeil.

A story where the guy is not the typical business tycoon like every other show, BUT a COP, who has his own set of principles that he abides by, Always.

The guy holds his ground as he says, a small apartment is what he can afford, because that's what his earning as an honest ACP can render him. He doesn't care to even mention that if he wished, he could enjoy the wealth like a brat, given the fact that he's the sole heir of the Khanna Empire, but he chose to make a path of his own rather than relishing the riches.

The guy is smitten by our beloved Avni from day one, going beyond perimeters to do things for her, never wishing for anything in return, but won't voice his feelings for her, lest she doesn't reciprocate the same.
But more than that, he's this selfless man, who knows the pain of losing someone, in his case, his first love Juhi, and hence, even thinking on the lines of losing his love once again, this time Avni, scares him to the hilt, and that's also one of the reasons he doesn't want to confess his feelings to her, fearing that her rejection might push him to the corner of feeling the pain of losing his love all over again.

The guy is also the first in the lot to NOT question his wife, when everyone stood against her, and when any other person too would have lost their rationale on seeing someone you love in a compromising position with another man. Instead, he did something that put him in bad light, only to open the eyes of everyone to see that it is not ALWAYS the woman to be blamed, to be tested, but a man as well!

And there's this same guy, who has slowly but steadily managed to join the broken pieces, broken bones of this tormented soul called AVNI.
A girl who lost her childhood, a girl who never had a family, a girl who never had a normal life, a girl who saw only gory and gore in her growing years, and was then clouded with the essence of only and only revenge, so much that she didn't even care to see how she dresses up, follow fashion trends, think about love, marriage, etc. FINALLY met this guy, this terrific guy, called NEIL KHANNA, who albeit slowly but eventually managed to bring out that child in her, the ever talkative, enthusiastic, energetic AVNI, who was lost until now, somewhere in the chaos of revenge and despair.

Someone said it right. Someday, someone would hug you so tight that all your broken pieces will stick together once again.

And for Avni, that someone is Neil.
And for Neil, that someone is Avni. Avni, who though not intentionally, gave him a new purpose in life. And that purpose was not just about solving a case, but about helping a victim get her revenge, and her justice, where she had lost everything in her life at the tender age of 11. Falling in love was not in the queue, but the universe has a strange way of conspiring, and perhaps, this is how it did for Neil Khanna, who thought he could never love again, never feel again, after Juhi was gone. But little did he know, that even if the most beautiful flowers had a lot of thorns, darkness always has to end up with the breaking dawn.

So, what is it about AvNeil, that makes us dream, feel, love, and adore them so much?

Is it that they are two extremely good looking individuals who just set our screens on fire?
Is it that the push and pull between them is so intense that there's bound to be sparkling chemistry?
Or is it the simplicity of their love story that makes our hearts flutter?

Well, I guess it is all of it, and more.
Because this is the first love story making everybody go ga-ga, despite the absence of television's most conventional Angry young man, despite the absence of a hate-love story, despite the absence of a forced marriage, or revenge among leads.

And THAT goes on to show, that it is purely the chemistry and the story between these two that make AvNeil pleasantly different and beautiful than the rest of the onscreen pairs on Indian TV currently.

I know that was way too long, but I look forward to your opinions on what makes AvNeil so special and different from the rest. 😳

Best,
Simi

You have expressed it so well. This show, specifically AvNeil are truly a breath of fresh air, so much so that it has encouraged someone like myself, who gave up on these shows ages ago due to their repetitive nature, to once again enjoy a show thoroughly.
I've been following the show religiously from the leap onwards and it struck the right chords for me from the get go! And that has not happened in a longgg time! 😆

As you mentioned, the uniqueness of the show and AvNeil derives from the the fact that everything from the plot to the characterization is so incredibly unique and enjoyable. The show is fast paced yet there is meaningful character development.

Special mention to AvNeil for being so incredibly adorable and yet somehow bringing the required intensity and setting the screen on fire with their chemistry! I've never seen Zain or Aditi's previous work but these two are doing an incredible job and have really brought the beautiful bond of AvNeil to life.

And thank you to you also for this wonderful post which not only was a great read and an accurate description of this incredible show but also encouraged me to stop lurking on the forum and actually comment. 😆

Great post. I want to write a longer comment but I am at work. Will try and write something later. But just want to say you are spot on! About everything to do with Neil and Avni as individuals and then as a AvNeil.

So I have been silently stalking this forum for quite some time now but this piece of writing has compelled me to come out of hiding. Everything about this post is love. You have nailed it, my friend!
What IS it about AvNeil? This is a question that I have been asking myself repeatedly. I thought I was done with Indian TV, given its repetitive nature and writers' inability to think beyond the "Family Saga/Mills & Boon" storylines. But then, Naamkarann happened.

Just like you said, it's the way the story has been written, alongside the fresh chemistry of the leads and a brilliant supporting crew that has made this show different. I am SO done with shows where the leads are either entirely flawed or entirely perfect, and even more so annoyed with shows that encourage outrageous behaviours (especially that of the male leads), in the name of romance. Naamkarann comes as a breath of fresh air.

Neither Neil nor Avni are perfect, and that is why many can relate to them. They admit to their flaws and try to amend them. Neil is #hubbygoals and for good reason. When was the last time we saw a male lead being so supportive? I was scared that the writers would butcher his character just to stretch out the track, but kudos to the creative team of Naamkarann for always keeping us on our toes.

And it's not just Neil, Avni is just as strong a character. She is fierce, determined and underneath the layers of toughness, she is a softie that needs love. Like you said, "Someday, someone would hug you so tight that all your broken pieces will stick together once again. And for Avni, that someone is Neil. And for Neil, that someone is Avni. Avni, who though not intentionally, gave him a new purpose in life." But Avni is no damsel in distress. She refused to defend herself repeatedly because why should she? She is a woman of substance and I cannot thank the writers enough for drafting such beautiful characters.

The best part about the show is that it is never preachy. The message is clear and the way it is presented is beautiful. No wonder this show is doing well and I wish the team all the best! More power to them!

P.S. I am so sorry for the essay! Got carried away, big time. It's been ages since a show/piece of writing has impacted me so much to actually get me to pen down my thoughts.

THIS. 👏

It is the same case with me. I was honestly done with Indian TV, and the last couple I wholeheartedly shipped was ArShi.
I was a teenager back then, and hence, didn't think deep into storylines, but now I am 23 years old, and I totally comprehend, that manhandling, pushing, mudslinging, etc. can never be passed off as romance.

Although I am still an ArShi shipper, I had thought after them, there won't ever be an Indian TV couple that I would ship so hard, but I was wrong, and pleasantly so, and I am so happy Naamkaran happened. AvNeil happened. 😳

I was skeptical initially getting hooked to the show, because Indian TV and makers are known for character assassination because of this weird thing called ''TRPs'' but it is a welcome surprise that so far, Naamkaran has only turned our inhibitions unreal and is head steady in unraveling new plots, keeping the characters' basic traits intact.
I guess this is why we as audience are able to relate with the characters, because there's consistency, and at the same time, how they are growing as individuals is shown prominently.

The lack of perfection but the effort to be better in both the leads is such a delightful thing to see, and I only hope and wish this show reaches newer heights with AvNeil's spectacular chemistry and intriguing story.

I loved your analysis thoroughly! 😊

You stated it all! 😳
Even I haven't watched Zain or Aditi's previous projects, though I did watch few scenes from Tashn-E-Ishq, but man, these two are killing it as AvNeil in NK!

From their eye-locks to banters, to serious exchange of words, to romance, all of it looks so beautifully portrayed. And the best thing is that there's nothing OTT about it.

Thank you for sharing your lovely views. Naamkaran and AvNeil are totally growing on us.
