It is an anecdote and not sure how much of it is true.
Charade is an old film in which Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn acted. At the time of filming Cary was 25 years older than Audrey and this age difference bothered him (the brazen disregard of a male lead's age compared to FL's, came much later in films)
So elevate his concerns (and old man pursuing a younger woman somehow makes him a creep in most viewers eyes), it was Audrey's character which pursues him in the film.
It is her who not just falls for him but is rather persistent in her affections and it's declarations. I noticed a similar pattern in last few episodes of YMMKD.
It is Aru who did a lot of wooing and convincing and so on. It can be due to the concern that people might feel it weird if Mukhi does it.
We do tend to feel weird if a much older man is behaving like a young fool (I guess a lot of us (including me) were cringing at the Mukhi dancing with dupatta scene) in love. If do not however mind it much if it comes from the younger of the two.
I believe it was same case (younger guy falling and following the older woman) for one earlier serial on Sony where the guy was younger to the girl (I forgot the name of the serial), even in case of Gulaal (there were a few more additional complexities there), in the track where Kesar grows up and comes back.
Just a casual observation.
