Which director/actor/actress/team has taken the worst Strategy for promotion of films in the history of Bollywood?
The result (ie whether the film was hit or not) is not of concern.

Disclaimer: following opinion of mine has nothing to do with original post. You may share your views on the films you felt having wors promotional strategy.

Disclaimer 2: I am not saying JJ is having worst promotional strategy. So please don't drag JJ. It was MY observation.

Promotional tactics of JJ has become unbearable for me. Such nonsense fakeness. Yuck.

I also feel JHMS team has hired Pahlaj Nihalni for promoting the film among 35+ audience. Thats why he said get votes only from 35+ (or was it 40+) audience. Then audience of that age group will be asked to wath trails/trailers.

..but but but... this has been the promotion tactic since the past couple of years.. not just JJ, unless they're doing something new?

But yeah, the strategy they've adopted for promotion in the last couple of years is BAD.

1. Having a teaser, a dialogue promo, another teaser, and a trailer (or more).
2. Releasing not only the audio songs, but also, video songs. And these songs are released not just on youtube, but play nonstop on radio, and other apps like Gaana.
3. Going on every TV show, or channel to promote.
4. Promotion in school, college, malls, etc etc.
5. Promotion on radios, youtube channels, other 'interview-chat' shows.

And, with all these tactics, our curiosity to watch the movie fades away. The promotion should be done in such a way that, it is minimal and one poster and one trailer should be released, ussi trailer mein, a song should be played in the background for 10 seconds. Even if it's the same old story, it should look so new and different, pique our curiosity, make us want to find out what the movie is about.

I feel there must be lot of money involved in all these tactics, so maybe that's why this hopeless marketing strategy has become a common method of promotion.
