"Sir, I came to discuss with you on the project presentation" a 26 year old young man knocked and came inside the Goenka's living room.

"Come in Rahul" a 50 year old but handsome man smiled and welcomed Rahul.

"What was the need for you to come here now? a young 23 year old Karan complained

"Karan, that is very rude, come in Rahul beta, have you come from office directly? You look so tired today. Would you like something to eat? We have made kachoris today" a beautiful woman in her late 40's said

"No Mam, I just came to discuss this with Sir. We have to present this in front of the client tomorrow and it needs some final touches"

"OK Beta, but after completing work, you should eat and go. Karthik, make sure he does not leave without eating. I am upstairs" Naira told her husband and went

Yes guys.. It has been years now and Karthik is around 50 years old. Sakshi is 23 years old.

"OK Naira. Where is Sakshi?" Karthik asked? Rahul's tired face brightened up at the mention of her name

" She is upstairs, working on a presentation for her thesis.Come with me Karan" Naira said and took Karan to the kitchen. Naksh and Keerthi were vacationing in US and Karan was staying with Karthik Naira.

"Bua, why does he have to come here often? I don't like him one bit. He keeps talking to Sakshi di every time he comes here. " Karan said looking away

"You are just over possessive of your sister, just like your father" Naira grinned. Karan continued to sulk

"Ok, Are you keep this long face for the entire time or are you going to help me plan Sakshi's surprise for her birthday in the midnight?" Naira asked

"Fine, as you say" Karan told and faced Naira who smiled and ruffled his hair." That's like a good boy" she said

It was around 11 45 PM. Rahul was working on the presentation while Karthik was checking his mails

"Rahul, you have not had dinner still. Are you not feeling hungry?" he asked

"No Sir, I am not hungry.Can I use the restroom please?' He requested and excused himself.

He was on the way to the restroom though his eyes were searching for someone her. As if she had sensed his thinking, she pulled him to the corner and caged him within her arms pouting angrily

"So what were you thinking Mr.Rahul Agarwal? You come here to my house and launch yourself in front of the laptop working without even thinking of meeting once? Do you call yourself my boyfriend? I hate you" she said and turned away while he pulled her again

"Sakshi, I love you just like how I have for the past 2 years and how you have for the past one year after my proposal. I was scared Sakshi, your brother glares at me and though he is younger than me I fear he will break my bones" Rahul whispered

"Sakshi, but I love you." He said looking into her eyes making her melt instantly

" I love you too" She said and hugged him, taking in the warmth of his body where she felt as safe as she was in her father's embrace.

Rahul looked at his watch and saw that it was about to be twelve " Sakshi, Happy B..." He started but Sakshi shut his mouth with his hands

"Hey, I have told you, it is my Mumma Papa who should wish me first, but you give me your gift first" she said cutely and showed her cheek.

Rahul looked at her lovingly and gave her a peck and cupped her face " I love you" he told while she replied " I love you more, but it is time to get blessings from my Mumma Papa " she said and turned around to see Karthik Naira and Karan standing in front of them looking shocked and angry

"Mumma, Papa" she said in a soft voice but Karthik and Naira turned away.

"For how long has this been going on?" Karan asked glaring at Rahul

"One year" Sakshi said looking at the ground

"Papa, Mumma please say something, I am sorry that I hid this from you" Sakshi told and held her ears

"Princess, I did not expect this from you. I feel betrayed and cheated" Karthik shouted.

"Papa, please listen to me, please give me a chance to explain" Sakshi said on the verge of tears

"Mumma, please ask Papa to listen. Mumma, you also listen Mumma" Sakshi said catching hold of her mother's hands and crying

"I cannot say anything Sakshi; I also feel the same like your Papa" Naira said looking away

"Will someone listen to what I want to say??" Sakshi broke down totally.

Rahul who was silent could not see Sakshi crying. He went near her, hugged her and held her hand tight

"Sir, if there is anyone wrong, it is me, Sakshi wanted to tell you everything right then, but I did not allow her. I am sorry sir, please do not be angry on her" he said with folded hands

"Why should I talk to you? Who are you. I am talking to my daughter or is she my daughter? don't know, but you don't but in when we are speaking." Karthik screamed

Sakshi fell on the floor crying while Karthik, Naira and Karan went away. Sakshi continued to sob while Rahul offered his shoulders catching her tightly

"I am there Sakshi, I shall make this alright" He assured her while stroking her head

"My Papa hates me now ... Mumma also hates me.. I have let them down.." She wept continuously

Karthik, Naira and Karan walked back into the room. Sakshi and Rahul got up from the floor and were scared to meet their eyes

"Princess?" Karthik called as Sakshi looked up in surprise to see her father and mother smiling

"Happy Birthday and how was our surprise?" He asked

"Surprise?" she said unable to understand anything

"I knew that Rahul loved you before even before he confessed to you. I have seen the way he looks at you. Honestly even Naira found it out before me. The first time she told me, I was so angry that I wanted to cut you into pieces Rahul. Then Naira made me understand that there cannot be a better person than Rahul who can be a partner for my daughter. I knew it all the way long and I am happy for both of you. " Karthik said and spread his hands

Sakshi ran into it and started sobbing" Sorry Papa, please do not be angry at me" she said with her face buried in her father's hands.

"Sshhh, no crying, my little sherni does not cry.. I am sorry beta, for scaring you sometime before. It was just to surprise you Sakshi I am sorry Rahul. You are a good person" he said looking at Rahul.

"Yes Sakshi, I am so happy for you. You have made the right choice." Naira said cupping her daughter's face and hugging her tight

Karan went to Rahul " I am sorry Jeejaji" He said and hugged him.

"Mumma, Papa, whatever happens I shall be your daughter first, Bless me" Sakshi said and touched her parent's feet.

Karthik and Naira hugged their daughter . Karthik pulled Rahul also into the hug while Karan was standing with an amused expression on his face

"So, I was picked up from the railway tracks huh" he sulked. Sakshi and Rahul giggled and hugged him tight

"Sir, I was a mere employee, yet you have trusted me with your daughter. I promise you that I shall not cause Sakshi any pain. I shall stand by her always and shall support her unconditionally. More than anything, I shall love and trust her with all my life." Rahul said earnestly

"OK, Sir, I shall take leave now. I am very happy today." Rahul said and turned to leave looking at Sakshi from the corner of his eyes.

"Beta, what are you waiting for? Go and see him off. I know he is waiting for it. Your Papa also used to do the same" Naira said ruffling Sakshi's hair.

Rahul's face turned red in embarrassment and he rushed to the door with Sakshi running behind him.

"Goodnight Mamu, Goodnight Bua" Karan told and left the room.

Karthik's expression changed as soon as he was alone with Naira

"See how history repeats itself; You came to my father as an employee and swept me off my feet; Now someone has done the same to our daughter." Naira said resting her head on Karthik's shoulder

"Rahul is a very nice person Karthik, and we know his family too Our Sakshi will be happy with him" She said reassuring him.

"Naira? So our daughter is going to go away from this house soon?" Karthik asked in a choked voice. Naira's eyes welled up with tears.

"Yes Karthik, but that is how the universe works. She is going to be with someone who loves her as much as us" Naira said "Just like how I came to your house and you gave me all happiness" she said and smiled

"I feel the pain which Naitik Papa would have gone through. I shall get through it. For my daughter's happiness" Karthik said and chuckled as he hugged Naira

"I love you Mendak" Naira said

"I love you more Sherni" he said and embraced her tight with his eyes closed
