I think Basu should just admit it , I'm glad rk did. The movie really reminded me of tintin, harry potter n a Bengali adventure novel chander pahar. That makes me more excited to watch the movie though cz I love all 3 and I generally enjoy Basu n rk's films.I'm confused what to think in such cases cz I really enjoyed barfi inspite of the copied scenes,so I don't know what stand to take in such cases.Maybe cz I hadn't watch most of the films barfi copied from, but it'd be different to someone who has watched them.To each his own imo.
Also guys do not think only Bollywood copies we do copy a lot but so does Hollywood n other film industries, sometimes from Bollywood films too

This very topic is misleading...since the latest article says this:

http://www.dnaindia.com/bollywood/report-anurag-basu-explains-the-conception-of-ranbir-kapoor-s-character-in-jagga-jasoos-2495340

Speaking about the conception of the character of Jagga Jasoos Anurag Basu took a walk down the memory lane and share, "When I was a child, I had stacks of Tin Tin's comics in my room".

He also shares, "I used to love adventure stories when I was a kid. The setting and details of such stories often stay at the back of your mind and resurface when you are creating something of your own. Jagga Jasoos is my childhood playing on the screen".

Basu says he was inspired by his childhood memories of reading Tintin comics.

People here are confused between plagiarism, which means copying from other movies...which is different from getting inspiration from books and comics and their influence in writing screenplays.

Those copied scenes in Barfi IS Plagiarism, but JJ is not copied from another movie, only got influenced by Tintin comics.

Anyway, Basu makes great movies even if some scenes are copied whereas others who copy/ plagiarize Hollywood movies often make a horrible mess out of it😆😆

I saw those quotes too (yes topic title is misleading) but this is the same guy who in the same breath calls Rabirs hairstyle matching TinTin a coincidence (page 3)

That train+car picture is nearly copy paste from colour scheme to sequence (minus background)...it's Robin trying to pass off his bird-a-rangs as something original and not copy pastes of bat-a-rangs (only difference being shape)

Copy pasting is not inspiration...its just copy pasting ...plagiarism is not just copying from other movies...its just simply copying from any other existing works...

Even in college, one must give credit to all text/quotes 'copied' from other works in bibliography lest you get booked for plagiarism

Mind u im willing to wait until movie releases and I will take back my allegations if the similarities end with what trailer has shown so far but I doubt that with his history😆

Ur last line is true...some directors/screenwriters do a good job ...while with most others, the less said the better 🤢

As someone else said, even Hollywood (+all industries) plagiarises like theres no tomorrow (hunger games was very similar to chinese/japan film)...only thing is b-wood has become 97% copy paste whether its off other industries or remakes of old hindi films/songs.

Very little originality compared to Hollywood (for every 'inspired' movie there is an Inception/Mad Fury) 😳

Being inspired by something or copying scene from something is not a problem. Problem starts when you don't acknowledge it. I think those who are fan of Tin Tin comics, including me, would love to see Indian adaption of Tin Tin.

Basu was insipred by Tin Tin. He may have influence of Tin Tin comics in his subconscious mind which is reflecting in his works but he should just admit it.

Otherwise he will be rightly called a chor.

If Jagga Jasoos is inspired by Tintin that is super cool because Tintin comics rock.
