Hell Hath No Fury? Of Pinky, ShivIka and Redemption
Pinky is a tyrant, no doubt about that.
She's browbeaten, crass, insecure and annoying. From the beginning of the show, we've seen her transition as a simpering socialite, to an obsessive mother. We've dealt with her insecurities, her tantrums, her misunderstandings we've tolerated her loathing for Annika. Heck, we even justified it I know I did. The fact that she has been repressed for so long, neglected by her family, husband and son everything makes sense. It makes sense for her to hate Annika Annika, without trying, has gotten what she has craved for so long. Despite not having any entitlement to her name, being absolutely meritless (in all the ways she has been taught, counts), Annika has won the affection of her son, and the compassion of the family. She has fit right into the mess that the Oberoi family is and Pinky resents that. We can deal with that, can't we? She's the archetypical mother-in-law, desperate to ruin her daughter-in-law's life nothing that we haven't seen before. That is, until yesterday. Yesterday's episode changed everything.
Pinky scared me last night. The way she lashed out at Annika was definitely the worst that we have seen of her, so far. She wasn't insecure or resentful here she looked like a woman on the brink of insanity. The rage that Annika saw yesterday is going to be devastating for the whole family. Pinky is not done yet. The question is, why? Assumedly, the theory is that she has always known that Shivaay is illegitimate but does that make sense? Let's rewind.
She hates Annika, fine. But she has always doted on Shivaay even during the earlier episodes, where he couldn't care less about her. His life revolved around his brothers, but Pinky slaved on. She adored Shivaay, picked the best goddamn wife that he could have gotten for himself and pampered her, cried when he got hurt like a mother does. Even at the beginning of this track, where Pinky first wanted to separate Shivaay and Annika she made it all out to be for the greater good. All the pain she caused Shivaay indirectly was justified, because it was to get rid of the woman she refuses to accept as her daughter in law. I'm sorry I'm hurting you Shivaay, I just need to get rid of Annika and then I promise to find you the best woman that you actually deserve.
And now, there's been a bit of a gear switch, hasn't there?
Pinky doesn't seem to care about Shivaay anymore. Not anyone, actually. She seems to finally have broken, and there must have been something that triggered it. If she has really kept this knowledge pent up inside of her for so long, why has she finally started to resent Shivaay? Annika can't have been the sole cause of her break there has to be something more.
And right now, the only thing that I can think of, is Kamini. We all know that these two have decided to get together to destroy Annika and Shivaay's relationship, despite their personal differences. What could have pushed Pinky to that resort to utilise an enemy to ruin her already defenseless daughter-in-law? Thus, I'm inferring that Pinky has only recently found out about Shivaay being illegitimate and that too, from Kamini.
Everyone has heard the saying, heaven has no rage like love turn to hatred, nor hell hath no fury than a woman scorned.' And maybe, this is exactly what has happened to Pinky. Can't you see it? This woman, who has always felt sorry for herself, now has a genuine reason to the husband that she was a good wife to, had a mistress, and the son who she loved will her all, isn't even hers. She is channeling her immense grief as mania, a fool's insanity. She is on the warpath and one by one, she plans to destroy everyone. The first one, and the easiest to hurt, is Annika, so that is what she is doing right now.
In all honesty, I doubt that Shivaay is illegitimate. Moreover, I just think that this is actually one of Kamini's more intelligent plans. If you want to destroy a house, you target the foundation. As both Annika and Mahi have said before, Shivaay is the foundation of the Oberoi empire he holds everyone together. During the Soni Soni dance sequence, you saw Shivaay consciously going out of his way to keep his family together and that is what he does best. Now, Kamini has already targeted Shivaay before, but in the wrong way. Instead of targeting him physically now, she's going to play with his mind. And the fool that Pinky is she has played into the whole ploy. A mother will ruin her own son's life. First, she's going to separate Shivaay and Annika which is automatically going to get Shivaay into a state, that no one wants to even imagine. And then, already relatively defenseless, is going to have a bomb of doctored revelations thrown onto him. Out of this situation, it looks like Shivaay and Annika, once again, will come out the worst.
I have no idea what Annika will do to submit to Pinky's three-day demand. All I now is that whatever she does, there is going to be a separation and we need to brace ourselves. But, there will be a number of good things that will come out of this blasted track, so let's take it and be happy?
For one, this will really be a build-and-break situation for Shivaay and Annika. As much as we hate it, there is still a power imbalance and he still doesn't realise her true worth. A rough diamond, is a diamond all the same. Maybe this track will toughen her up again, make her the strong Annika we once knew but it'll definitely change him for the better. We don't know the value of what we possess, until we are forced to separate with them. Shivaay and Annika have been on a collision course for a while now, with his beliefs and her values getting in the way of each other. This way, maybe we will finally see the redemption track that we've been hoping and praying for, for so goddamn long.
And Pinky? Oh, the woman will repent. I have a strong feeling, that after the truth comes out and Pinky's role in the whole chaos is acknowledged, Annika will forgive her, but Shivaay will have a really hard time doing the same. The idea that the woman he had so much faith in, tried to separate him from the woman he loved out of jealousy and resentment will break him. And then finally, when Annika (being the saint that she is) will get them to reconciliate, she will finally grow to appreciate the woman that she loathes so much now.
My question is, how do you guys think it will play out? Where do you think this track is going, and what will materialize out of this track? And for god's sake, where do you think that Additi Gupta will fit into the equation?
