Google the number of Indian origin CEOs and former CEOs of American companies. The list is longer. It's because desi parents feel they have made a sacrifice to come to the US and their version of success is not an actor. Being an actor is not easy, you have to go to auditions, live in LA or NY which is expensive as hell. Have a job as a waiter or something. If it is a kid, often mom and kids including siblings will live in LA in a shitty apt while dad works someplace else. This is true especially during TV pilot week. Plus the whole not enough roles available and racism thing.
It's not easy even for a white actor. Google Leo and see how his mom helped him as a kid. Most desi parents in the US will not be willing to do that in what they consider a career which is hard to break through. They will cart you around for Kumon, SAT, bharatanatyam or classical singing classes or to the temple to learn language 😆. Very few desi parents in the US will encourage their kids to act.
I don't think it has anything to do with parents for people to work in the glamorous world, it's their choice of what they want to do and in USA or any other western counties, people r more independent unlike India or any other Asian countries, they usually don't rely on others of what they they will, coming to the CEO, not everyone can become CEO if they only want to because they need to have lot of money and obviously luck to become one. In USA, there r lot of rich Indians which is why there might be many Indian CEO in here but they also work on many other fields too, especially on medical field which I see it much often since I live in USA, on any hospital in here, I usually see there is at least one Indian doctor and in my university, I see about half of the people that studies science and do u think it's easy to become a doctor without having much support? so I think it's just peoples interest of what they want to do, not just Indians but most of the Asian people in here r interested in science to become a doctor or a scientist, if they want to act or enter in the glamorous world, who is stopping them? There r few girls in here that even participated on Miss America and acting on movies or TV shows too like Aziz Ansari, Sheetal Sheth, Kal Penn and few other people, so it will probably take another generation for Indians and other Asian American people to work in HW more often.
