It may not be about being best, more about holding audience interest.. even with same track and sequences repeated again and again, people have this curiosity on what happens next..

and now there are no spoilers or BTS sequences or segments.. looks like that is also helping.. the cast are also not posting any pics these days, so no guesses.. audience forced to tune in at 9 or follow updates on SM..

YHM had been out of top 5 for so long but this week its back, so lot of people may be following updates and the moment something interesting comes up they will come back..

We have to see what writers have planned next after this kidnapping sequence ends..

Just because more no. of Indian urban and rural households are tuning to Zee channel at 9pm regularly last few weeks, it doesn't necessitate that the show that gets telecast during 9pm slot is the best of Hindi serials or the tracks, plots or scenes currently being shown are loved by KKB audience to the core..😛

Yes high TRP hints its more popular which helps attracting good commercial ads and at better pricing model.

In addition to IPL & summer vacations in India impacting TRP's of other TV serials during last two months, there is also possibility that other prime time daily shows on all Hindi channels may be much more lacking on a whole in writing, editing, story telling, marketing, performances, tracks, plots, fandom of artists or lead role characterizations etc..😆

Yes, since Balaji & Zee have cut down on releasing upcoming news segments, on sets coverage details, weekly promos and authentic spoilers to media since March 2017, some viewers with utmost patience are also tuning more out of curiosity element to know what will happen next, will they unite or not, will they be safe or not?

Some portals actually started analyzing why KKB still attracts ratings despite fans being bored and frustrated. If you haven't yet, then check out below mentioned Bollywood life article which is closer to what some of us on forum do opine about TRPs. It makes me wonder if these article writers are visiting IF secretly by any chance? Few direct lines that have been used in this article actually amused me!

Well guys, #1 show means it's better than other shows or the best among the others:)!!

So what we can clearly take away is a show can be #1 but doesn't have to be enjoyable!! This show has redefined what good entertainment is:)

I tried tuning to Namakaran and Beyhadh serials randomly last few weeks which air on other channels at 9pm slot. They both seemed yawning and unbearable to me to watch regularly. Especially Beyhadh is too dark, violent, psycho and negative and Namakaran has made a kichdi of all old Balaji plots, recent one being revenge and bride swap wedding..And that Shani mythological show on another channel, it started with good script, cast and vfx but now they have ruined the plot by introducing a dual fake villainous mothers role to Shani, that's a torture..

Also indicates why some viewers have no other option than to bear with KKB if they want to watch TV shows at 9pm, not because they love KKB. 😲

At this moment we can just say wait and watch till Jun last week to know actual scenario of where other serials can pick up, as Naagin 2 also comes to an end. Also most serials have started new plots or have tightened up existing plots post IPL, so some may click with audience.

@LA2725

When I came across all your analysis of TRP, you were given two major reasons that why KKB continuously spots on Top 5
  • Week contenders in KKB slot time
  • Slot time - 9 PM
Now I am getting some doubt related to this...

If KKB tops because of week contenders in their slot time, then why didn't other shows like YHM (which have immense popularity than KKB) can't tops the TRP chart even though having week contenders in their slot time...

And regarding slot time, you said 9 PM slot is where all age groups of family sit together before TV before going to bed, in comparison to other time slots... Due to this 9 PM slot becomes leader of all the other shows... If Zee channel uses this strategy, then why other channels doesn't uses this strategy, channels like Star Plus can promote their current best show like Ishqbazz to that particular time slot to fetch high TRP ratings...

And I checked some TRP in previous years, Even Non-9 PM shows like YHM, SNS, Balika Vadhu also tops the TRP chart in past years... So what is your take on this..??

PS : My doubts are in Bold...

When it comes to daily serials as most of us know - content, characters, lead pair chemistry, basic theme of serial, star cast, variety of plots and tracks with twists and turns they bring - all these have some role to play in establishing an emotional connect with audience and time slots also matter a lot.
@praveen I don't belong to TV industry nor am I associated with any channels. Still with my basic understanding trying to answer.

During 9pm to 10pm GEC's mostly enjoy maximum Indian viewership, this is based on a data analysis I happen to read couple of years back. Next slot is 8pm to 9pm. There may be a reason why these are usually termed as prime time slots, ad charges for commercials have different pricing models for different time slots coupled with what TRP's the shows airing during that timeline are guaranteed by channels. Premium, advanced and basic ad charges get accordingly paid by the companies.

If I remember right, both SNS, YHM serials actually started with strong content and characters and Starplus gained an early edge with 7pm and 7.30 pm slots and thus became slot leaders when Colors, Sony and Zee didn't focus much on these slots. But Colors later used SSK and it worked for them. But Zee and Sony couldn't grab same audience for their 7 or 7.30pm slots. Over the years how much ever flip flops SNS, YHM or SSK content and characters went thru, they still had backing from some sections of core audience especially women.

Based on another analysis, seems most working Indian men don't reach home by 7pm and even after they reach, they may want to catch up with news headlines before sitting to watch daily serials. But KKB at 9pm is still watched by many Indian men with families and Abhi's character has huge following even in Indian Men. 😃

I opined about this even last year, with the current quality of content and story line that KKB has been slogging with, let Zee once force Balaji to shift KKB to 7pm or 10.30pm time slots and then we may get to know how much the show is being followed or appreciated for its content or characters even today irrespective of timing. Currently many old fans who got frustrated with weak content, repeated recycling's and snail pace of the show have stopped watching KKB regularly, so my analysis was based on how Zee is still able to retain slot leader TRP's for 9pm?

Ishqbaaz and spinoff DBO are both picking up and have no serious competition between 10pm to 11pm, then why will Starplus shift them suddenly?

I still feel Colors made a commercial mistake by allotting wrong slots to both Ashoka and Shani serials which are non-fiction, these two have good budgets and star cast but don't belong to 9pm, a much early slot could have helped fetch these shows 3 or 3.5 TRPs, 😳

Thanks LA, for taking time to write this to explain me... I don't know any other better person than you, to ask my doubts... Because you have more analytical knowledge about Tele Industry...

And I particularly pick Ishqbazz because it is the big hit show among online viewers and have youngsters, and also won many awards in SPA2017... Then why didn't the channel does not give the prime time (8 PM - 10 PM) slot to the show... This is what peeping on my mind...

It may be because when Ishqbaaz and DBO got launched during that period, 8pm to 10pm slots were already filled up by other serials from different PH's on Starplus. Right now Colors, Zee etc. don't have many popular shows airing 10 to 11pm, that's an advantage in a way.😊

I have a slightly different take on why they got many awards this time during SPA2017. Most other Starplus shows have become old and saturated with many leaps. Other than YRKKH, other shows couldn't cash much on leap or new pairs, and channel perhaps wanted to encourage big budget shows Isnhqbaaz and DBO being new and also having given first spinoff to Indian TV...

I was silent reader of this forum for a long time, and suddenly this forum has become silent last few weeks.. 😳 there are many more senior forum members with much more knowledge of TV shows and those who have been watching lots of other shows regularly.. my exposure in a way is limited as I follow very few TV shows..
