Prologue
It was a beautiful night, but dark enough to let her rest in the balcony and catch some sleep. Dark, just like her life has become now. She was sitting on the rocking chair with half closed eyes and drifting into a peaceful slumber. Well "at peace" wouldn't be the right phrase to describe her current state of mind. Not since the day he had left her. Still our bodies need rest from both physical and mental exhaustion. Similar was the case for her, but the emotional turmoil she was going through in every minute of her life, always took a toll on her. Still no matter how hard she would try, she could never have a sound sleep.
That night would always be there to haunt her. The fateful night that snatched away all her happiness and the reason of living. It was the night when two lovers were separated for lifetime... She was half asleep when..."I love you Naira. I love you, he yelled in happiness. "I love you Nai..." and before he could complete the sentence...boom.
The next thing you can hear is her gasping for air and yelling out "Kartik..." with a loud shriek. The voice was all familiar to her and her sleep broke with a painful cry. Most of her nights would be sleep deprived or she would wake up after seeing the same dream that would leave her yelling out his name, just like that night. She was covered up in sweat now. It took her a moment to take in her surrounding. After a minute or so she realized it was a bad dream after all. BUT to her bad luck, that night wasn't a dream. It was vey much real and still is imprinted on in her mind and soul. It all happened right in front of her eyes...she had lost her Kartik forever.
