Samir Soni's tryst with television has not kept him from pursuing his Bollywood dreams. He started his career a decade back with Rajkumar Santoshi's China Gate. The film didn't boost Soni's film career and consequently, he moved to the small screen.
Soni's perseverance has finally paid off. He has been signed by Sooraj Barjatya for his next film. Soni confirmed the news, saying, "It's true. I'm doing Sooraj Barjatya's film." This yet untitled film stars Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao amongst others.
He adds, "I'm looking forward to shooting with the Barjatyas. Being the oldest filmmaking family, they are well versed with their art and what makes them different is the fact that they respect all actors ,big or small."
In the film, Soni is paired opposite Simone Singh. He plays the eldest of the four brothers in the family, quite like that of Mohnish Behl in Hum Saath Saath Hain and Hum Aapke Hain Kaun? The shooting of the film begins in December and Soni has already started working on his look.
Talking about the character that he is playing in the film, he says, "I can't talk much about the film but I can tell you that it is a family drama. It's going to be a mixed bag of everything emotions, family value, comedy and romance . I'm playing a positive role and I'll talk about it in detail when the film releases."
Soni has already given Barjatyas bulk dates.He says, "I have enough time on my hands. Television roles dont keep me that busy, I guess."
He can't stop raving about the professionalism on part of Rajshree people and says, " The narration of the script went on for two hours. Everything is proceeding rather systematically."
