AB has always been extremely patriarchal. He likes to exude class and intellect, but deep down he is steeped in some very regressive values. The day he made Ash marry a tree, sealed this deal for me. I am not surprised.
That being said, many feminists do so for the fad and cool factor, not genuine beliefs. This is not unique to AB. Many Indian feminists, both men, and women flip flop or dance around the issue if feminism conflicts with so-called Hindu values. It is all about not poking the saffron bear these days. Similarly, in the West, many liberal feminists turn apologists when it comes to feminist issues in Islam or minority communities.

That being said, it is not easy to understand and support all feminist issues. There will always be divides, disagreements, and questions. We are all raised in a patriarchal society and some opinions are so hardwired it takes time for hardcore feminists to also get rid off. There are also cultural nuances that are not always understood. What an urban rich Indian woman needs versus what the rural poor Indian woman needs are different. White women issues are different from black, Hispanic, or Asian women issues. Straight women issues are different from lesbian, bi, or transgender women. All we can do is open our minds and keep learning.

On another note, some people feel that AB should not be criticized so much for what he did not say. But I think by penning that letter, he made himself a spokesperson for these issues. If he had not tried to place himself on a pedestal, people would not check the pedestal to see if he still stands there or has stepped off.

But why should he say anything? Why should everybody stand up for everything? It is really a trivial issue. It sure shows lack of respect on PC's part to dress in an informal attire while meeting with the PM. Why should AB defend her character? As if! If he defended her he would be attacked by the trolls, if he spoke against her he is a troll. Now, poor man didn't say anything...still became an article 😆

Indian television was going sane till kyunki came. star best sellers continued till 2001. there was rishtey on zee which had one episodic like best sellers. wonder there were Rajni, Udaan , Byomkesh Bakshi, Bharat ek khoj , mungeri lal k haseen sapney, filmi chakkar, malgudi days, tehikaat ( vijay anand ) , evening live show, surabhi , shaktimaan which showed importance of yoga, and so on. so much variety. swaabhimaan was stretched for sure. ekta cannot wash her sins. she made tv regressive for sure.
i feel values have changed for sure. parent hood is taken as regressive boys says they have to be financial secure. girls want career. everybody is after individual identity. ( not a bad thing) but i feel one parent has to sacrifice job. in childhood your kid solely depends on each and every thing but still parents are not there. i always vouch for relaxed childhood. in old days till late 90s you could go to any house, ring the bell and could say pyass lagi hain paani milega. we live in materialistic world. i don't anybody will say i want rasna. we want coke only. we cannot bear a hour without electricity. in old days there was no light for hours but we would have papers , hand fans . as a child i read story that a man liked his shadow so much in water that he jumped and was drowned. he was Narcissistic from greek mythology. i used to say aisa kaisa ho sakta ki koi apni hi chaya sey mughd ho guya. now one witness selfie death. i remember that story. it may look like a lecture but what i wrote is truth only.

on allowing marriage with aish. its a win win situation. AB is still relevant due to aish being his wife. a common girl from industrial family would have bring money but not the fame. he was married in 2009 when he delivered a hit guru. acting by aish will fetch income at regular intervals.

This is crazy. So AB is hypocrite or not is another topic but here he just avoided the question clearly to avoid getting into someone's elses business.. and a whole judgmental article is made on him? When he didnt say anything! 😆
Priyanka or not, anyone male/female are criticized if they wear inappropriate dress in work/formal setting. There is thing called dress code.
