Why does Deepika always find herself in the middle of an identity crisis when it comes to Hollywood and the international press ?

Right after she made her big Hollywood debut alongside Vin Diesel, Deepika Padukone was identified as a "leggy brunette" by a UK tabloid and later even referred to as "Priyanka Chopra" by a Hollywood YouTube channel .
It didn't stop at there, a few months ago a video that went viral, showed Deepika exiting Los Angeles airport to shouts of "Priyanka, Priyanka" from the waiting photographers.
Ever since several such episodes have followed, including her being mistaken yet again right before the MET gala.
Quite recently, a popular international photo agency confused Sonam Kapoor for Deepika, leaving us all asking the same question - Why does Deepika always find herself in the middle of an identity crisis when it comes to Hollywood and the international press ?
Making an observation, says an industry source, "First they confuse her with Priyanka Chopra and then with Sonam Kapoor . It's shocking that even after a big launch like XXX opposite Vin Diesel, Deepika's face has still not registered in Hollywood or even with the international media. She seems to be constantly stuck in an identity crisis as she never gets recognized. It's a well known fact that a star has truly arrived in Hollywood when the paparazzi recognize them and the episodes surrounding Deepika ,only go to prove ,that she has failed to make a mark in Hollywood."
When the actress made her Hollywood debut, everyone was left asking why a superstar at the top of her game in Bollywood, would turn Westward and star in a film with 2 other actresses.
"It seemed like a catastrophe right from the start. While she was a huge star here, she went to Hollywood almost unrecognized and featured on the inside of two international magazines, which did not leverage her stardom whatsoever.
A UK daily referred to her as a Bollywood blunder. After calling her a "disappointment" at the Oscar pre-dinner party, her dress at the Oscar after-party was referred to as a "gift wrap".
Her various appearances including her MET gala look was severely criticized. She featured in the Worst Dressed list at the MTV EMA Awards and the Golden Globes. Before heading to Cannes, Deepika was even questioned about the negative reviews and comments she got for her looks and she shot back that she did not dress up for them," concluded the insider.
Insiders also felt she played it too safe and too plain-jane when it came to her public appearances and interviews.
Says another source on home turf, "Sonam Kapoor has not done a Hollywood film and yet her pictures get featured prominently with mistaken credits . That speaks more of Sonam Kapoor's popularity and prominence as a fashion icon and less of Deepika Padukone's stardom. Similarly , Priyanka Chopra is probably the biggest Indian superstar to make such a huge impact in Hollywood . No wonder then that Deepika is often mistaken for Priyanka ever time she visits the US."
