Instead of a percent of Bling's profits, they want a percent of Fox's profits. aka.. they want a lot more money now.

Contracts are pretty water tight I think but with India's judicial system, anything's possible. Shittiest one in the world. oops. I hope I'm not Hauled up for contempt by the illiterate idiotic melords.

Family is being greedy that's all. Not surprised. I knew this Bhanot family from Chd. Typical climbers who like to portray something else on the outside. Typical Chd people. Thank God I could leave that shithole.

Why is someone asking for their money that they were entitled to receive being called greedy???

Right now its just he said she said wali situation... Lets wait and see what documents they both have to prove their claims...

And why should they feel 'grateful' for the 'tribute' .. The film was not made as a favor to them.. The studios made plenty of money.. All actors got awards.. So if, IF, the family was promised something they should also get it

The Bhanots have been cheated once by the american government, they refuse to let this happen to them again. Understandable. Although to be fair, reading the statement released by Bling, it does not state that they did not get their due. I am assuming that Bling does not have a share of the Fox shares either. Of course it sucks for the Bhanots that their contract does not take in count the fact that Bling & Fox are different companies, therefore they will not receive money from Fox! Their lawyer failed them😳.

& it is revealing to me that Fox has not commented yet. They should give them something, since the real heavy lifting was done by both the Bhanots & Bling anyway...
This is about to get ugly🥱😭

which means, since fox ent was the major share holder, their total share would have come down to 1% or 2% from the entire profits earned...

they actually got duped if they were not informed beforehand that fox would be a partner in investing or was a major share holder ...

they were under the impression that the entire film was produced only by bling ent...that is why they are moving courts...

If they did not know about FOX being the major distributor then it was wrong

According to the article, they knew. I guess they did not understand the difference between producers share & distributors share. Either way, Fox is foul for that & the Bhanots should have known better. The world is full of criminal greedy minds, & the world of cinema moreso.
Back end deals are always better in movies imho. I guess nobody expected Neerja to become a 100 cr + movie...

Standard Indian mindset. Greed is bad. Taking credits of our work is bad.

Western culture always believed in taking credit, be it Shakespeare or Wordsworth. In India, nobody knows even the real name of Kalidasa.
Till now, artists in India are suffering for royalties, which western artists got long ago. When Lata Mangeshkar wanted to fight (for the rights), Mohammad Rafi opposed it saying, artists should not be greedy (which resulted in their fall out).

I am no one to judge this attitude. (It is imbibed in us). But because of this attitude, we let go lot of corrupt people without them ever being challenged. For example, if a patient dies due to hospital's negligence, his family will not sue hospital for money.
Many places in India do not provide quality safety jackets while boating. In other places, every ride in theme parks are closed and safety checked before start of a season. In India? If any accident happens, again family will not sue the owners. (If they do, they would be called greedy). But such sacrifices only result in repetitions such negligence deaths.

For the moment, Neerja's family might look like villains. But this is needed once, before someone touches biographies and exploit the family loss for their benefit.
