People are so greedy. They can't just be happy with the fact that their daughter got the best possible recognition in the form of this tribute? Shameful.
Standard Indian mindset. Greed is bad. Taking credits of our work is bad.
Western culture always believed in taking credit, be it Shakespeare or Wordsworth. In India, nobody knows even the real name of Kalidasa.
Till now, artists in India are suffering for royalties, which western artists got long ago. When Lata Mangeshkar wanted to fight (for the rights), Mohammad Rafi opposed it saying, artists should not be greedy (which resulted in their fall out).
I am no one to judge this attitude. (It is imbibed in us). But because of this attitude, we let go lot of corrupt people without them ever being challenged. For example, if a patient dies due to hospital's negligence, his family will not sue hospital for money.
Many places in India do not provide quality safety jackets while boating. In other places, every ride in theme parks are closed and safety checked before start of a season. In India? If any accident happens, again family will not sue the owners. (If they do, they would be called greedy). But such sacrifices only result in repetitions such negligence deaths.
For the moment, Neerja's family might look like villains. But this is needed once, before someone touches biographies and exploit the family loss for their benefit.
