Is Aamir Khan-Amitabh Bachchan's Thugs of Hindostan a loose remake of

It's been a while since Yash Raj Films
announced their next big ticket
project Thugs of Hindostan with Aamir Khan
and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead. However,
the leading lady of the movie wasn't
declared. Last week, the producers
announced that Fatima Sana Shaikh has
bagged the role of the lead actress in the
film along with Katrina Kaif.
Now according to a leading magazine, the
film seems to be loosely based on the cult
classic Sholay. Reportedly, sources close to
the film informed the weekly, that Aamir
Khan plays the role of a 'Thug' who is a
rascal recruited to avenge the death of
Fatima's family. Amitabh Bachchan portrays
the role inspired from Thakur's character
that was played by Sanjay Kumar.
Apparently, Aamir Khan was too tempted to
play an entirely unlikeable character and
worked closely with the film's crew and the
filmmaker to make it more edgy and badass.
He basically wanted to do something which
he hasn't done before!
Interestingly, speculations are rife that
Fatima would be seen romancing Khan.
However, the report dismisses those reports
and reveals that the actress isn't
romantically paired opposite Aamir.
However, there is no official news regarding
the same.
Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya aka Victor,
who helmed Dhoom 3, Thugs of
Hindostan is slated to release on Diwali
2018. The movie goes on-floors from June 1
and will be shot both in India and abroad.
Before Fatima, actresses like Shraddha
Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Alia Bhatt were
also rumoured to have been in the running
for the role whereas for Katrina's role, Vaani
Kapoor's name had cropped up.
