Any Rajesh Khanna fans out there ...I am a Kishore Kumar fan ... and hence by association...
I end up watching a lot of Rajesh Khanna movies
So Dushman is a story about a hit and that too under DUI ... mind you it was not a hit and run ...
He stayed back to face the consequences
The judge instead of imprisonment ... makes him (Rajesh Khanna's) Character live with the family and the story is a journey to forgiveness ...
Please remember the longest time a character took forgive the crime is the wife of the victim played by Meena Kumari
The love interest is from a different family not directly affected by what happened

I can talk of another movie Do Annkhen Barah Haath ... again it is about reforming hard core criminals..
A master piece by V Shantram ...why I am talking about these movies ... simply that forgiveness is a noble emotion... and we all may find it in our selves ...
But romancing the individuals who committed a grave crime against us or loved ones is something that is
Still unthinkable .
Purely that is why it has never ever been attempted on celluloid
At least to my knowledge and neither in books ...
If anyone has read or seen something different please do share

Hence my objection to what is being shown .. I signed up for a
Love story... frankly... and I am in no mood to watch tragedy of unrequited love

Very well compared Tibs. Agree with U, if finally the makers cant or dont want to put up another angle where SK is not directly responsible for the mishap, then V can digest Mehriya as life partners. If not will not b able to digest M staying happily with the very man responsible for her parents death. At a point when they were everything for her. For a child parents r everything till they dont turn adults. She can forgive him n relieve him from getting arrested but can't live with him. Even if the makers go ahead with it, will b tough for us to see n Njoy Mehriya like V do now Agree V tuned into watch a love story n were digesting the different one too according to the makers but blood stained love story certainly a put off for us. Really really now seriously want them to come up with another so called twist of twists n erase what they have shown yesterday.

Talking about Rajesh Khanna there was one more movie of him ROTI
Where he played a character called Mangal Singh has been a career criminal and he is finally sentenced to be hanged. Behind the bars he meets underworld don, Suraj and plans to run away from police. They finally escape from jail. Mangal Singh lands up in a small village in Northern India, and becomes a school teacher with the help of local restaurateur, Bijli. He takes on the identity of Ramu, a friend of Shravan, and goes to live with Shravans parents, Lalaji and Malti, little knowing that they are the parents of a man he killed while escaping from the police.

In yesterday's episode they have shown SK hitting mehek's parents and after that his car hit a tree.If this track fails to gain trp they may end up with another twist showing SK not responsible for mehek's parents death. They may show Nani , swetlana or mama responsible for accident.I have a little hope .I can't digest the truth hero as murderer.

@tibs, as usual a wonderful post. I have already expressed my personal standpoint in this respect. This is just an example. Though not entirely matching the situation we are having at our disposal, but definitely have shadows of it.

This is from the first part of Saratchandra Chatterjee's famous, semi autobiographical, novel series "Shrikanta". There was a character named Annada. Hailing from a very rich family she was married off to a poor boy, whom her father had adopted as a kid and educated. She had a widowed elder sister, who used to live with them. One fine night, her husband raped and subsequently murdered her sister and then vanished into thin air. After a few years she discovered him as a snake charmer. On the very night she left her home for good to be with her husband. She did never leave that womaniser till his death and took care of him as a loving, respecting wife; even though that man brutally tortured her throughout his entire life.

Might be this is the reason they say "When women love someone they give everything - when man loves them he expects everything"..

Caveat: This story was written in early 20th century. So, no comparison with today's scenario. Just an example of whether forgiveness is probable or not...

Bring another twist to cover this twist so Shaurya can be erased from the scene. That is only can be done at this point otherwise hero is responsible for heroine's parents death that would be disaster story. Band baja jayegi storyline ki.

Again, another one I can remember is the film "Bombai Ka Babu" (1960) starring Dev Anand & Suchitra Sen, directed by Raj Khosla. In this film Dev Anand's character was that of a criminal's. He unintentionally murders a man and escapes to an unknown destination subsequently. He is taken in by a family constituting a blind aged couple and their young daughter. This happens to be the actual family of the murdered man. They mistakenly identify him as their long lost son since he was carrying the murdered man's belongings. The guy gradually falls in love with the daughter of the house, but she used to consider him as her brother only. Later she gets enlightened with the entire truth. After much fights, she gradually gets settled with the fact that for her parents this guy is the son and if she spills the beans then it would be a death blow to her parents. So she decides to bury the truth. Later she also falls for the guy, but been married off to an aged man. The film ends with her vidaai and her extracting a promise from him that he would take the responsibilities of her aged parents as their true son.

@tibs, she can definitely forgive, but forget!!! Not possible. Spend her entire life with the very person responsible for her parents' death and bear his children!! It's impossible. Even if she tries, it will forever be a tug of war, between her loyalties towards her parents and spouse. Not a single moment of peace and bliss. The union will be cursed and soulless...ST has literally ruined the love story with this grandfather of all twists, a literal black hole...

tibs di...
i appreciate the comparison and really forgiveness is a noble virtue...and yes mehek can forgive him...she will...and of course di..loving and caring for someone who is indirectly the murderer of someone's parents is a different perspective altogether...i dont really think its even possible...after all conscience will be pointing at him or her every time..
how much understanding a person u may be...but will u be able to answer urself that u love a murderer...and why is it that u cant leave him??
will she be an ever compromising person?? someday when they would have a fight she'll also let her frustration drain through and she would obviously remind him of this!!!
i dont understand much and i should not say much..
but i do vote for a lovestory

a lot of stories we hear about these pativrata women are written by men. May be its their idea of how they want women to be! I wonder if any woman has written such a story?
I have a very subjective thinking and that's the reason why I get emotionally involved in a stupid tv soap! I always put myself in others' shoes and see what I would do in a similar situation. I am also a very optimistic person and I always want to look at the bright side in any situation. I don't give up on anyone or anything I put my heart to. So in my perspective, I would be able to forgive all of his crimes including the accident, but I would never be able to live with that man for the rest of my life and make babies with him!🤢
