Bahubali is fantasy/mythology. Not historical research. The guy got carried away a bit in his appreciation like we all do. Now hopefully this won't turn into a full blown communal discussion 😕

I have not watched Bahubali or Bahubali-2, but do they carry a disclaimer about the film being a fiction? If so, this article does not hold water...
Whatever the Khans and Rajnikant have earned is public doing... so by making statements against them, he is questioning the same public who has also given Bahubali this success...

I am a Hindu , very proud of its culture, content and liberalism .I am also aware that it had its set of flawed practices which were addressed by many eminent reformers in the past. It is constantly evolving and hopefully improving thro self correction, slowly but surely.
Having said that, I don't agree with the letter at all , to compare pure fictional content with a real past and attempt to attribute qualities in a selective way. I see it as an insult which reduces the richness of our past by comparison with pulp fictional content. I can only shake my head.
I LOVED the movie coz it brought alive all the "Chanda mama" fantasies in such a beautiful way. I'm proud of the technical skills on display . And the entertainment it provided. But I would like to leave it at that.

Ah, intentions were good but writer got carried away to make a lengthy open letter. Writer has made some wrong connotations which makes it really overdone,

Baahubhali usage of elements of hindu culture was indeed really great...thankfully use of culture was subtle and not the centre point of the movie.

I don't think the makers of Baahubali were doing any of the 'hindu' subtext intentionally. It is very common in Telugu movies and has been for decades, even if you watch black and white Telugu movies you can see the same themes. The Muslim invasions and rule in India by Mughals and such didn't extend into the south, and though Hyderabad was ruled by Muslim nizams, much of Andhra was untouched. So Andhra has always been predominantly Hindu in culture. So what was shown in the movie is just how it normally is. I don't think anyone deliberately set out to make any statements here.😆

Hindu Hindu Hindu.. entire letter is just writer connecting the movie as a love letter to Hinduism. Blah 🤢

the movie was portraying hindusim and comparing the hero to different Hindu lords.
The people from Chennai or Tamil nadu are connected to their land than any other Indian I came across.

So this doesn't surprise me if he has chosen to write on something he felt.

Nothing wrong with the movie's portrayal of the kingdom. It's the letter trying to make every small plot point a praise-worthy fact for Hinduism. Like There is one scene in the film where Bhallala Deva suggests to his father Bijjaladeva, "I will not able to take complete control of the Kingdom until Sivagami Devi supports me" makes the writer conclude that "Hindu kingdoms were democratic"?? And really, just because Devasana character rejected a marriage proposal, means every Hindu woman had the right to choose who to marry? Lol. and blaming feminists for no reason. Blah 🤢

please know about ancient Hindu woman and talk.
Yes women were given equal rights to choose her better half.

People swayamvaram for their daughters.

The women can choose anyone of their choice.
