HW also uses holiday weekends for tent pole movies and certain times of the years
.Will Smith was for years known for July 4th Holiday releases. Thanksgiving is a time people also release films, Christmas is also a favorite time of release. Then there are the summer blockbusters when from March onwards till like August, pretty much major movies are released. Award show competition movies are released later in the year. So don't blame the Khans alone for having a holiday release. People like to go to the movies during free times and holiday times, so makes sense.

That said, the kind of loyalty the Khans have generated for over a decade now has not been replicated by the younger generation. Varun is the one who is the closest but we are yet to see if that will be a superstar thing where people will come for any movie of his.

Will people stop going to the movies ? No. But they will get choosy, it will be more script and WOM driven than star driven as it is in HW now. There is no shortage of the ways a family can watch a movie now. Previously only theater. Now we have big TVs, comfy couches, our own snacks and the comfort of our own homes. Or we can watch a movie privately in a hand held device. People consume movies and shows, just that BW is not the only entertainment source. We have subtitles now and we can pretty much watch any language movie. HW learned to up its game, BW will learn too and they will to survive. The market has dictated that.

Many now wait for the films to come on TV instead of going to theatres...that can increase as well

No! I can't say for other people. But, IDC about them anymore! I've stopped watching SRK and Salman's films since ages, only look forward to watch Aamir's work if they're good or interesting!

How can we know wht'll happen when Khans retire?? For one thing, they wont for atleast 10 more years and second, there's nothing called retirement for an actor (look at Rajnikant, AB Sr., etc) . Third, we cant say if we have an upcoming superstar among the current lot or the about-to-debut- starkids who can take the BO by storm šŸ˜‰

Finally, nothing in life is predictable so no use discussing this šŸ˜†
