Avni felt like her world was spinning on the wrong axis.
The moment Amol had flippantly threatened to call Neil to arrest her for something she was clearly being framed for, she had felt her breath hitch. It did not matter that Riya seemed to be a little too pleased with that idea, it did not matter that Diksha's internal happy dance was soon going to be a real one, it did not matter that Dayavanti Mehta seemed to be confused on what to do next, but what did matter was the mere thought of Neil harbouring feelings of disgust towards her. Oh, that had terrified her.
"Ananya?"
Avni snapped out of her chaotic thoughts when she heard Neil call out to her.
"So do you think that someone is trying to frame you?" He asked cautiously.
"Are you stupid? Why would anyone try to do that! We are the Mehtas. We don't resort to such lowly tactics." Amol drawled.
"Another word and you would be in a lot of trouble, I promise." Neil clipped, exasperated.
"Why? There was nothing wrong about what he said." Riya screeched. "And it's high time that you tell me what exactly is going on here. Since when did you start defending criminals, huh, Neil? Why the good treatment for her and not my brother?"
"Have you not heard a word I said? I am not-"
"Then arrest her, damn it." Riya clutched the front of his shirt.
Avni could make out the repressed growl of annoyance as Riya dug her nails into the flesh of his chest. Amol smirked and flopped down on the bed while the rest of them simply exchanged looks.
"ENOUGH! Behave, Riya!" Dayavanti boomed.
Avni cocked her head to the side, trying to clear up her thoughts and form coherent words. The dread that seeped in was making her brain go numb. She was going to be arrested. She was so sure of it. And Neil would be the one doing that. He would never trust her, ever again, if she couldn't prove herself innocent. They would never be able to stand on a neutral ground and establish some sort of friendship.
"Ananya?"
She could imagine the way his brows would furrow in anger, soon followed by the flash of loathing and a sigh of disappointment. He would stomp on whatever soft corner he had for her and would look at her dead in the eyes while securing the handcuffs around her wrist. And again she would hope. Hope that maybe he would understand.
"Are you deaf?" Riya whirled around to face her, pulling her back to the present. "Talk, when you're being talked to."
She did not know for how long she simply stared at the other woman, dumbfounded. Time seemed to have slowed down for her alone while it ticked by rapidly for the rest of the world.
"I don't know who did this but it was not me." Avni whispered.
"As if!" Diksha scoffed.
"Diksha. Shut up." Dayavanti barked. "Neil will handle it."
Within seconds there was a shrill ring of the doorbell that echoed in Avni's ears. Her heart sped up when she heard the padding footsteps rushing towards the bedroom that they currently occupied. The door was thrown open as DD and a lady officer skidded to a stop, the former dragging a male servant along.
Neil's gaze shifted from DD to the lady officer and back. The trembling man in DD's hold looked just about ready to faint when Diksha stepped towards him.
"Oh come on, you all are boring me. Arrest her and get going." Amol sneered.
"I have had enough of your bullshit, kid." Neil pulled him off the bed, gripping his collar.
Amol's eyes widened and lips parted in slight fear as Neil loomed over him. Dayavanti placed a calming hand on the latter's shoulder, urging him to let go of her grandson and forgive him for his loud mouth.
"Sir ji, we found this man trying to run out from the back door with this bag of clothes and this pack of money. Told us he was just doing what he had been asked to do." DD piped up.
Neil abruptly let Amol go and offered the servant to sit.
"Do not lie to me or try to dodge my questions. Save us from wasting our time and tell me what you know. Explain everything and do not omit anything. Get it?" Neil commanded.
The man nodded. "I am Ramprakash, the head of the cleaning staff. Around two hours back I was here in Riya madam's room dusting some shelves. I knew how she liked her mirror and windows to be clear of all that dust and hand impressions so I had been gone for a minute or two to fetch the glass cleaner. And when I came back, I-"
"We do not need to know his unnecessary cleaning sprees." Diksha interrupted.
Neil simply snapped his fingers and the lady officer cracked her knuckles and glared at Diksha menacingly, who smiled uneasily and backed into the wall.
"I am sorry, sir. Diksha madam paid me to run away and keep my mouth shut. She told me she would ruin my life if I reported anything to the police. She even offered to give me a better reward after Ananya madam was in jail." He sobbed.
Avni blinked, trying to process what had been said. Neil was making Ramprakash drink water to calm him down while the lady officer was already a step away from Diksha, handcuffs dangling from her fingers.
Dayavanti stumbled and sat down on the bed, her glare shooting daggers at her daughter. Hetal was whispering sweet nothings into a hyperventilating Riya's ears. And Amol, well, he looked like he wanted to set the servant on fire.
"Ananya, don't worry. Sir ji will not let anyone wrong you." DD offered her a kind smile which Avni happily returned.
"I know." She sighed.
"You know what?" She yelped as Neil whispered in her ear. She could clearly imagine the twitch of his lips as he restrained himself from smiling.
"I know you'll stick to that annoying habit of being a knight in the shining armour even though I am no damsel in distress." She breathed, this time, not interfering with the arrest of another member of the Mehta family.
I challenge (anyone, everyone, someone) to write on the elaboration of the latest promo where Ali confronts Avni and Neil overhears them.
Seems like no one is really interested. It's alright. You guys can tell me so that we can reach a decision to continue/discontinue this game.

I am continuing this ok? Will post in 12 hours!
This was amazing. So amazingly written, and goes excellently well with what i had written. 👏And it's disappointing to see nobody is playing this game. It's not like a long piece is required. It can be short and sweet too.
