Nupur helps junior artist suffering from cancer

Nupur Alankar, who plays Halki bua in Ghar Ki Laxmi Betiyaan, is helping her junior artist who is suffering from uterus cancer. Nupur is not only providing her financial help but also taking her to Delhi for treatment.

The actress tells us, "Arzoo is poor and used to work with Dulhann team. Initially, she was suffering from appendix and kidney stone. When they realized it, they helped her financially for both the operations. Then, one day she was shooting with us and fainted on the sets so I told her to undergo some tests. The doctors detected uterus cancer. However, I do not know many doctors in Mumbai so we are taking her to Delhi for operation. My father was a doctor in Delhi so I have little bit knowledge of medicine and I know a few doctors who will take care of her there."
Arzoo will leave for Delhi on Thursday with her relative. "I am also going with her but will not be able to stay there. She requires 1 lakh for this operation. So far I have given her 25 thousand and will be paying her expenses in Delhi. I am collecting more money and also praying for her so let's see what happens.," says Nupur adding, "After doing many pre-operation check ups doctors realized that they will have to remove her uterus which means she will not be able to conceive in the future. She is just 21 and one of her relatives wants to marry her so he had requested me not to publicize this matter," reveals Nupur.

This is not the first time that Nupur has lent a helping hand to a needy person, "I have also helped Sapna Mitkar before this. Her sister used to work with us and one day she suddenly started crying. When we tried to find out she informed us that her sister needed to be operated to fix a pacemaker which required 5 lakhs. We managed to give her 60 thousand and then I went to some charitable trusts. Rakhi Sawant was the first person who came forward to help. After that she was successfully operated and is doing well," says Nupur.

Keep up the good work Nupur.

👏 She needs to be congratulated for doing this 👏
Now I have one question...she said "her relative wanted to marry her so he asked me not to publicize it" SOOOOOO why is she talking about it publicly? 😕

Yes, I'm not sure either why she would air what her family wanted to keep private. But I think she had to put the story out there to get funding. It's a catch-22.
What I found disturbing yet understandable is:

Her relative wanted to marry her off, and asked that the details be kept private. I understand -- a young woman who cannot bear children has a very hard, almost nearly impossible time getting married, or her choices are limited. But did her family NOT want to publicize this so they can lie to suitors about her being able to have children? Is this cynical of me to say? Or is it that they just don't want everyone and their mother (neighbors, friends, fruit/vegetable guy, etc.)to know, as they'll be nosey and treat the girl differently? That I totally understand. But the article made it seem like they were worried about marriage prospects.

This is really sad. I hope most that she fights the cancer off, and has another chance at life. Whatever comes afterwards, comes. Living is the first thing.

But perhaps in certain situations, it's not.

I can't believe a society that makes so much progress in some areas can still be so backwards in others. Not all women want children and not all families need children. There are plenty of happy small husband-wife families without kids. Not wanting or not being able to have children should have nothing to do with marriage.

Anyway, looks like she is nothing like her character on GKLB so that's good! What a wonderful thing to do 👏
