Kanha sat on a rock in the forests of Vrindavan, His flute playing a melancholy tune. He was alone, even His Dau was not around. In the darkness, Radha was drawn to the tune. Her anklets clinked as She walked to where she heard the tune from.

"Radhey?" He didn't turn, nor did He need to hear Her voice to know it was her.

"Kanha" Her soft melodic voice floated over Him, filling Him with a completeness. He smiled despite His mood. He held out a hand for Her, which She took.

"What is wrong, my Kanha?" she asked, lovingly stroking the back of His hand.

"Radhey," He sighed, resting His head on Her lap.

"Kanha," She uttered, lovingly, weaving Her fingers in His hair. "You know, my love?" said She, when no response seemed forthcoming.

"Tell me?" He closed His eyes, allowing Himself to revel in Her touch.

"I have always marvelled at the silkiness of your hair."

A smile adorned His perfect features. "You know the answer, Radhike"

"I do, my Kanha, my Narayana, my Shyam." The litany of His names fell from Her lips effortlessly.

He sat up. "Radhike"

"My Shyam?" His eyes shut. He had to tell Her. Hesitantly, His hands cupped her cheeks.

"Tell me, Kanha," She said, reverting to the name that had fell a countless times from Her.

"I.. I don't..." He hesitated. His mind knew that He had to tell Her. His Lakshmis had begun to take incarnation again, but His heart was heavy. He knew He had to leave His Radhe behind.

"I don't know how long you have here." Her voice was matter of fact, Her hands covered His.

He looked at Her lovingly, lacing His fingers with Hers. "Radhe, you disarm me, everyday"

"Kanha," She untangled Her fingers from His grasp, and held His face in Her hands. "In togetherness or in separation, I am yours."

His eyes filled with tears. "You are, and.. Shyama.. You are reborn. Eight times over. To be mine, forever."

"Have these births occurred?"

"One has, Radhey. The second will, soon. Very soon. Shridevi and Bhudevi, they will be the first two of my eight Patranis."

Radha nodded. In Her separation from Her beloved Kanha, too, there was togetherness. She let out a sigh.

"Radhe?" The concern in His voice didn't go unnoticed.

"I am thinking, Kanha. Of us, of how we will live apart."

"We will be apart only physically, my love. You will always be in my heart."

"And you will, in my soul."

"Radhe..."

"Dau is your soul, Kanha. I don't grudge Him that"

"He is. And will always be. My wives and you will hold your special places, but my Dau will remain unto my last breath, and His, my soul"

"You will depart together?"

"We cannot live apart."

"I know you cannot. He is your All"

"He is."

"They will understand, Kanha" Her voice was encouraging.

"Radhe?"

"Kanha?"

"I love you."

"And I love you, my love."

His flute struck up a tune again, this time a little more cheerful.
