Wow is the word! This was my first brush with this series and I just went from start to end without a break!

The whole "conversation" you have going on between Shivika through their eyes and unsaid words.. mind blowing!

And the way all family members have a point of view and "react" in their own individual way to how the wedding impacts them.. just lovely!

Will be waiting eagerly for your updates!

Hello!

I am glad you liked it 😊

@Bold: I am glad you liked this particular aspect because this honestly is one of the mort difficult part of writing - bringing words to describe unspoken conversations.

Eyes for these two are so important because honestly I love NM's eyes... so I just find it hard to not write about them 😳😆

Will be updating tomorrow! ⭐️

I just completed reading all your chapters... You weaved right amount of emotions with the very essence of their actual character from the show... ! I hope Anika keeps her self respect intact and doesn't give in easily seeing a guilty and sad Billu... Till now it was beautiful. Liked how u described change in emotions with change in colors of their eyes... ! Continue Soon ! Waiting to read Ishqbaaz rising more ! 😆 😉

3.2 Choices and Consequences

7:45 AM, Oberoi Mansion

-----------------------------------------

She was running late.

It was her first day at her new work place and she was adamant to make all the right impressions.

So trying to make as little a noise as possible, she tried walking as hurriedly as possibly.

"Annika"

She rolled her eyes as she heard his familiar voice calling her as she almost reached the open mansion doors.

Of course he was awake.

So close

She sighed softly before turning around just in time to see him walk right up to her.

It had been too much to hope.

But because she had grossly underestimated how near he had been when he had called her, the moment she turned, she almost went crashing into him... thus losing her balance.

And for a moment she could only stumble back from the surprise... instinctively bracing herself for the fall that would almost inevitably now follow.

But his arm caught her easily.

Steadying her against him...she felt herself being held almost protectively into his side.

Her eyes flew to his, and she found herself drowning into the increasingly familiar soft blue-grey orbs lined with the mellowest of honeyed gold's'.

He really was too handsome to be true, wasn't he?

What the wuck - where did that come from?

His words had penetrated her subconscious.

Come on Annika

Not being able to help the heat rising to her cheeks, she hesitantly tried to step back... only to be stopped when he didn't budge and continued to stare almost absent-mindedly at her.

Why did this feel so familiar?

And wasn't his arm hurt?

Pushing her thoughts firmly aside, she stubbornly tapped the side of chest lightly to catch his attention.

This seemed to bring him back to earth because he looked identically flustered as he quickly straightened them both up before stepping slightly back.

A quick hidden look to his bandaged arm assured her that it hadn't cut open again.

So hiding her own increasing flustering emotions, she impatiently looked at him. But he seemed to suddenly have become more interested in everything around them but her.

Why did this man have to be so stubbornly infuriating?

Clearly frustrated, she looked up at him indignantly. "Problem kya hai aapki? Aise ekdam se koi darata hai kya?"

This seemed to have brought him back as he finally looked towards her.

A flicker of unreadable emotion passed across his face before a small smile started forming...slowly.

I knew it - this man is completely crazy.

"Toh kya do naukron ko bheju aane se pehle?"

This stopped her in her tracks.

A memory played in the back of her mind.

She had once said those exact same things to him. But it all now seemed like it was almost a lifetime ago... maybe a different era.

Maybe even a different her and a different him.

An unfamiliar familiarity grew inside her as she stared into the most beautiful blue-grey eyes. And despite it all, despite her...despite everything she couldn't help the smile forming on her face.

And for a second, they both forgot everything as they let the mirth escape them.

Their chuckles mingled together as the light laughter vibrated into the silent morning. Hands awkwardly moving towards each other, yet stopping just before they touched...they stood there... letting a simple memory give them this moment of stolen mirth.

Seconds turned to minutes as they both turned away from the other simultaneously trying to hide their laughter.

Both were unsuccessful in hiding from the other though, and just as their eyes met for the second time then...they each turned away again.

Squaring up - Annika shook herself stubbornly.

"Aap has kyun rahe hai?"

"Mein...Mein has...Ek minute...Tum bhi toh has rahi ho"

"Mein... nahi has rahi -"

She tried unsuccessfully to hide her mirth, but their eyes met again...and she couldn't help but be swept away as they now looked more emerald and gold...mixed with the soft blue.

This is probably my favorite color

But even as the mirth slowly passed...a heavy silence suddenly weighed down on them.

Enough

She turned to leave.

"Annika -"

More than his voice, it was the sudden realization that her hand was still firmly locked in his that stopped her.

Why did this always have to feel so familiar? Why did it always have to feel so right'?

She moved to remove it but he stubbornly held on to it now.

"Mujhe tumse baat karni hai"

"Mujhe aapse koi baat nahi karni hai"

She tried to shrug out of his grasp, but he held her hand stubbornly.

"Mein keh raha hoon...na...baat kar lete hai."

She rolled her eyes at that.

"Kyun? Mujhe jaana hai...chodiye"

"Meri...meri baat... ek baar sun toh lo Annika"

Refusing to look at him, she sharply pulled herself out of his grip. Turning away, she forced herself to walk away.

"I am sorry Annika"

This was not a whisper. His voice rang in the emptiness of the hallway and she stopped in her tracks.

She could hear his footsteps as he slowly came up behind her and then said it again, this time softer.

"I am sorry Annika - I..."

His voice faltered at the end and she turned to look at him.

His eyes had changed to a soft steely blue grey...and like the night before...he had let his mask drop.

It was disarming to know that Shivaay...Shivaay Singh Oberoi was actually letting her see his vulnerability.

Why does he always have to do this? Whenever I prepare myself to walk away - he does this. He pulls me towards him.

Marveling at this new change, she couldn't help but feel the tears form in her eyes at the reminder.

However, refusing to bow down she determinedly stared straight at him.

Not again...I cannot allow him to break me again.

"Toh?"

For a second she almost saw the pain flicker through his face, but faster than lightening... he cleared his expression to a smooth mask.

Was this a shield again?

Fascinated, she now tried testing her newly realized knowledge about his eyes' colors and their meanings.

Annoyance with her should have meant back to a steely grey - and if he wasn't having one of his absolutely crazy mood swings...maybe hints of gold.

But all her expectations fell flat, as his eyes remained serenely emerald, with the lightest hints of blue and gold making them look even more dangerous somehow.

Frustrated. She couldn't help but let her annoyance show.

As if he had read her mind and the thoughts, she faltered when he raised a single eyebrow questioningly towards her.

Baggad Billa

Huffing, she turned to walk away once and for all.

Almost sighing with relief when she didn't hear his footsteps follow her...she didn't trust her erratic heart... which was probably the reason why she didn't look behind her as she walked outside the huge double doors of the mansion.

Not completely clear headed - and the thoughts of a certain pair of hauntingly beautiful eyes still clouding her vision...she had almost let out a sigh of relief as she hurriedly climbed down the last step of the entrance when she suddenly saw his car pull up right in front of her.

But before she could actually react or even think, he had already smoothly climbed down the car and had started walking towards her in the full SSO mode' as she had started identifying it' as.

Defeated she could only look on as he confidently walked towards her.

Dark glasses, nose slightly upturned...and a natural arrogance... yep...that sort of defined this SSO mode'...

Tadibaaaz

Crossing her arms now she felt her own temper rising.

Familiar

And if it wasn't for the rising frustration, she would have honestly felt relief... because this familiar rising temper... the familiarity of standing up to him brought out a part of her that she had been mourning for the last two days.

But the temper that she was trying to clearly hold on to was too fast rising and she narrowed her eyes ever so slightly as he came to stand right in front of her.

"Hatiye aap...mujhe jaana hai"

"Main bhi aata hoon"

Her eyes widened in shock.

He had got to be kidding.

"Aapko aaj kuch kaam nahi hai?"

"Hai...par filhal isse important nahi"

"Mein aakhri baar keh rahi hoon, aap hatiye yaha se"

"Mein bhi keh raha hoon, mein aata hoon tumhare sath?"

Snap

Her temper got the better of her.

Everything - from his frustrating habits of turning every second from good to suddenly bad... then back... from the way his eyes changed colors and mesmerized her without her consent... His egoistical arrogance of always having his way... she had had enough.

She spotted a lone thrown away steel rod lying on the sideline of the driveway and walked determinedly towards it.

Hidden from his view, she picked it up... slowly.

Then turning, she walked from the other side of the car from where he was standing.

Eyes flashing, she only stared back when he started removing his glasses to see exactly what she was up to... then.

1...2... 3...

Crash...

The glass of the windshield shattered all around them... but she continued to stare at him when he didn't even flinch.

This got to teach him

Her temper momentarily satisfied, she turned to walk away.

But just as she turned, she saw a small smile appearing on his face that threw her completely off.

This man has completely... completely lost it.

Yeh smile kar rahe hai? Shouldn't he be angry?

The shock of it made her turn back it seemed it was now her turn to stare at him.

Her mouth opened and closed without any sound coming out, but they were then interrupted... "Arey bhabhi - please thoda left mein jaayein na -"

Rudra's voice suddenly interrupted them and they both turned to look towards him - only to notice for the first time that the entire family (excluding Sahil and Pinky) was flanking him with identical shocked faces.

Slightly embarrassed now, she quickly looked away. And beside her, she also felt him coming to stand next to her... his arrogance clearly replaced by discomfort.

She rolled her eyes at that.

This was precisely why she wanted to leave undetected this morning.

"Arey bhaiyaa... pose karo na ek baar phirse..." Rudra was in his own element as he quickly tried getting his phone's camera on some weird angle. But apparently, he wasn't alone, because just then Khannaji came up to them... "Rudra sir, don't worry... I got the left - angle shot."

"What the wuck!"

She didn't have time to process her full embarrassment because Shivaay it seemed had reached his limit.

"What's happening?"

"Rudra -"

"Arey - bhaiya... please. Aaj kuch mat kehna - this is probably the best video EVER!"

Annika actually felt the color rise to her cheeks this time. Before actually processing the thoughts, she thought out aloud - "Par tum log humaari videos kyun bana rahe ho?"

She could feel Shivaay shifting distinctly uncomfortably next to her - but her curiosity overrode it and she looked curiously at the two men who had their phones out in front of her.

"Arey bhabhi -"

Bhabhi

"Aisa roz roz nahi hota ki koi bhaiya ko aise khule aam takkar de... or bhaiya sun bhi le?"

She shouldn't have asked

But before the moment could prolong too much - she felt Shivaay suddenly move behind her back towards the car.

Oh no... is he going to kill her now?

She turned to watch him carefully as he came towards her now... carrying the same rod in his hand.

Was he actually going to kill her with it?

She saw his eyes roll at that.

What the wuck! Could he seriously read her mind now?

She saw him shake his head slightly as he came to stand right in front of her.

She didn't really know what she would tell him - but he didn't wait for her to say anything as he silently offered her the rod with two hands.

Has he completely lost it? 100% sure... I should have taken him to that vedram dulara...

His eyes were a sparkling emerald sapphire in the scintillating rays of the morning and she stared wordlessly at him as he started... "there are twelve cars here Annika... and about a hundred odd other full-sized windows in the house... Saare tod do... but please... mujse baat karna mat band karo"

Something deep within her tugged at his words, and she could only stare at him.

Shivaay Singh Oberoi had just apologized to her. Without any qualms... without hesitation... and that too in front of an audience...

She couldn't find her voice as she continued to stare into his beautiful eyes. She could see sincerity and a deep underlying pain that reflected her own in each speck and the emotions that she had been battling over the last week suddenly resurfaced.

She loved him

He could never be hers

The tears formed in her eyes before she could stop them and she suddenly saw the color shifting from more emerald to the softest of blues...

"Annika -"

She held up a hand.

She couldn't.

"Shivaay - "

She saw gold specks more prominently in his eyes now.

"Mujhe sach mein der ho rahi hai -"

She wanted to take back the words the minute she said them then. Because there was just a flash of pain that she could identify that flitted through his face before he had actually put up his mask again. The haunted emptiness in his eyes from yesterday threatened to overpower his beautiful eyes -

And she couldn't help but feel her own heart break then.

She couldn't stand the thought of hurting him

"Kya aap mujhe mere office drop karenge?"

And even as she said those words, she saw the way his eyes turned the softest sapphires again.

She could almost see the smile in his words, though he tried to hide it... as he immediately answered, "haan... yeah I mean of course - chalein?"

Before she could actually think anything more or even try and make sense of the storm within her, she caught a glimpse of smiles on his family's faces.

Omkaara, Rudra and even Saumya's grin was full of fondness... love. Daadi was smiling through unshed tears... and even Tej uncle and Jhanvi aunty were failing to hide their grins that morning.

It didn't matter that things were still uncertain. It didn't matter that she still felt broken from inside... and it didn't matter that she continued to break even now as she was drawn even more towards the one person that she knew could never love her back.

What mattered right then was that she had finally understood what it meant to be part of a family.

Even though she was still very much an outsider... she couldn't help but feel the love that webbed around her.

Could they all really care about me so much?

An engulfing storm brew inside her heart, but she tried clearing her head to focus as she followed in Shivaay's footsteps.

Even as she turned, she saw that he had now brought up another car right in front of them.

Only a small hint of a smile playing at the corners of his mouth, he was now standing with the door open for her.

Her heart moved to his rhythm and the slight smile on his face reminded her of an innocent dream...

Even as she started walking towards him slowly, she heard daadi's soft voice drifting towards them.

"Pati patni ka rishta hi kuch aisa hota hai... kuch pati ki pasand par patni ko parinaamon se samjhote karne padte hai... sambhalna padta hai... toh kabhi pati ko ... tabhi toh mein kehti thi... job hi ho... takkar ka ho."

Honey brown eyes met sapphire and for those few seconds the world stopped to exist.

She was married to him

And it finally started sinking in

They were married

Silent, unspoken understanding is what I would call it. Very well brought out by words.
Just like in the series, here too Annika is getting mesmerized by his eyes.
