Prologue

19. 01. 1990

Mamaji called just now. The hospital has discharged them after 3 full days! She is on her way.. My daughter! Yes, I am a daughter's father. I haven't done anything properly since 2 days, since I saw her... She is so radiant, like gold.. It's decided.. I would call her Sona. Because she is my most precious possession, and she won't be treated any less, her whole life. I would tell this to Asha as soon as they come and she places her in my arms. I would make her wear silver bracelet, that i bought a month agom

That is my gift, and also a promise.

A vow, that I bound myself forever to.

Bejoy Bose is a man of his words, a proud man, and today he promises his daughter that he would let her become anything, but weak. He would never let her break, never let her compromise, never let her cheat anyone, including herself...

A daughter is deemed to be man's weakness but my daughter.. my Sona would be my strength, my joy and my blazing pride..

I am very happy, today. Even the doodh wala was spared my wrath, for today, that is. My daughter finally found her life partner. Asha told me this afternoon, in the kitchen. Sona loves Dev babu, her boss! The man whom she was always annoyed by, the man who took away her job, the man who lashed out at her at small things... yet the man who bought cake for Asha, a man devoted to his family, the man who saved her life and took care of her, as a responsibility and later as a friend..

I have met him. He is a good man. I even told him that, as I genuinely believe it. I think because he is more or less like me. Even Asha had taunted that day, when our Sona was frustratedly ranting about Dev babu' s compulsive temperamental issues.. "Achanak se Bejoy ki aatma a gayi kya?" She had said with a snort... my oh-so-elegant wife!

And besides, a person who rejects his engagement coming free with a 100- crore deal for sona, must have a good amount of brains, right?

Asha was skeptical, which is unnatural of her. Maybe she was worried about Sona. I am too, as always. But if I have given her choice, I have to value it and trust it. And I know Asha does too. From what I know of my wife, just a week's time, some Sondesh and flattering comments about her writing from Dev, and her motherly feelings would start overflowing. And maybe I can also share my favourite Brandy bottle with him, I haven't had any partner for that since we have left Kolkata.

But that, is for later. Right now, he better know that that dancing-like-a-fruitcake-nutjob-wearing-headphones was an accident and the next time he visits Sona, he is going to face the you-better-take-care-of-my-daughter look of mine. I haven't fried anyone for a long time, anyway.

Lol.. But I still prefer him over the 3 so-called protagonists. This story mainly focuses on providing his detailed PoVs on the whole story up to now. I hope then you can relate better to his character.😊

But, thanks. Regarding Ishwari, I loved her before too, but I could never understand her psyche. So, I don't think I would be able to write anything good about her.
