This is purely speculation really so I'm not certain but Mahi is short for Mahesh. Mahesh is a name of Shiv, if some of you are not aware. This name is typically found when saying Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh.
I am not going to be entirely surprised if our little fakester has a name of Shiv. I mean think about it. Mahi has gotten so much characterization. Mahi has a personality, morality, a back story, and even a dance number. If Mahi isn't going to be important, why is this character so fleshed out?
I know a lot of people say this is just Nakuul's excellent acting skills, and while I agree to some extent, I must admit that a character is only as good as the person who writes that character. Acting alone doesn't just make a character stand out.
If Mahi really is Shivaay's twin half-brother, wouldn't it just make sense to give him a name of Shiv? Maybe this is just me because I actually like Mahi as a character, he seems so full of life.
