Well, Rani was perfect for the role.
Aishwarya was treated very poorly by SRK though.

It was in the year 2003 when SRK was in war with Aishwarya and was defensive about replacing her. Of course he will not try to put her in good light and would want to make his choice leading lady look like his best choice.
