I have been watching sooryavansham during cardio at the gym... it is definitely one of my favorite ab sr movies..but I have always thought that amitabh was too old for the role of heera... that is probably the reason the movie didn't work at box office..

If instead of amitabh, the role of heera was played by abhishek bachchan... it would have given his career a better start and it would have been intriguing for people which would be a better box office..

What do you guys think?

I have not seen this movie, only heard about its re-runs on Max. I don't have that channel , so I escaped

yes every week they run this movie..
i think there will be no takers for this movie today..
there is no item no. no under dressing to boost it..
it will get bracketed as sati savtri types movies n flop
in all probability..unless they cast salman khan ..
then it will get its real due...

The only good thing about that movie were the kader khan-anupam kher scenes...rest of the movie was quite boring..

It's a dual role in Tamil and Telugu don't remember who played the parts exactly. remember it was pivotal to the story that the son was the spitting image of the father, don't even remember why but hence the double role.

As for Abhishek playing the part of the son, NO. He has done better as an actor out of his father's shadow. Else he tries to imitate ABSr and it falls flat. His flaws as an actor are exposed terribly and mediocre becomes bad. I believe what sunk Abhi was comparisons with ABSr, if this had happened very early in his career it would have finished it earlier IMO.
