There are a lot of posts on unanswered questions and precious air-time being used up for flashbacks but I guess this is the best that we will be able to get and honestly, the maximum that the makers will be able to give us. They lost to the dushman named TRPs.
I will address the major dejection that most of us are feeling. The under developed character sketch of Sid.

What I feel has gone against the makers is that Sid came in in the second half of the show. Till the point of his entry, they didn't face the pressure to wind up early. Hence, we got a character who was shown to be charming and a thorough patriot. Lots of time was devoted in introducing us to LT. SIDDHANTH THAKUR. And rightly so. We fell in love with him and started believing in him.

Then started the TRP pressure, consequent change in time slot and finally the mandate to wind up earlier than 126 episodes. Now, time was less and lot to tell. Hence, we witnessed a rushed transformation, rushed terror plot planning and rushed realisation.

The answer to those unanswered questions are out there but they makers must leave many to our imagination because as someone very aptly put it in another post that Siddhanth's character and Anurag's acting prowess is such that a 100 episodes can also be easily carried on his shoulders alone.

So Sid turned for the love of Hussain. Not just one Hussain though. He was disgusted at the politics and killing even children for profiteering and dividing nations. He was Sid at heart and that is why he turned when Afreen called him out as Sid. He kept reminding himself of his maqsad and that is that he is Sadiq and not Sid. So it was a conscious effort on his part to become Sadiq and not something which had gotten imbibed in him.

Yes he was a fool to fall for the trap. Shown as a wise and smart soldier, he fell rather easily. This brings me to his human quality. For us, who have been shown the entire background story i.e. we have the benefit of knowledge on our side, it is easy to judge him and say, he was foolish. But look at things from Sid's POV. As someone in captivity who had given up hopes of living or being freed. When you are fed with instigating talk on how you were chosen to die over your fellow captive inmates and how you have survived only because the enemy showed mercy on you. That's poison to one's mind. So Sid was not just physically wounded but even mentally scarred. He couldn't trust Lala much (and this was shown as well in Sid questioning Lala on why he saved him and is tending to him) but he trusted Afreen and Hussain because he knew they are like ordinary civilians who don't plot and plan.

The impact of terror attacks is the same on all. We all condemn it and hate it. But the scars remain for long on those who are directly impacted by it i.e. either being victims themselves or losing a loved one. Sid was disgusted at terrorism but to show the deep impact of it on him, it was justified to show someone like Hussain dying. Hence, Sid kept saying Hussain ka intekaam but in essence, it was to punish people who funded and planned the attack (or so he believed to have).

His human aspect and therefore being just as prone to committing mistakes (even grave ones) will be highlighted in his fb I guess. They said it for Sartaj too. That he was human too and his good deeds and redemption efforts started to get recognised and people began forgiving him. I still remember how we hated him once!

Time was on Imaan and Sartaj's side for their characterisation. So their mistakes (ones in personal life as well as towards the country) were shown in detail making us dislike them at that point and even their redemption could be shown in greater detail making us love them by the end. With Sid, sadly the TRPs trap came and so although initially detailing was great, time fell short to justify every aspect. This why I now feel either Imaan or Sartaj had to die for us to accept Sid dying. Sid had such huge fan following and people rooting for redemption that Sadiq's death would've been much more difficult to digest and would've totally caused a greater backlash.

So let's just hope that in Sid's fb he being a human and thus having fallen pray and the fact that he was Sid at heart all along and that he was blinded by love and manipulation but emerged a soldier (uncredited and fallen albeit) will be duly highlighted. His "aankhon ke peeche ki chhupi nami and awaaz ka khurdurapan" will be mentioned too to bring a somewhat acceptable closure to this much loved character.

Till then, see you in some other forum guys. I don't watch TV shows (or rather never till the very end and hardly till the end of 1 year to it too :p) and POW was an exception coz it was a finite show. I hope more such content come so I can come to IF and connect with people like you guys.

Cherished POW, brilliant actors and all you guys.

Cheers!

Completely agree with the bold part! They need to explain his perspective that he was a vulnerable human at the end of the day who got wronged the most...He got misguided and when he realized his mistake it was too late for him... I hope this gets emphasized and put across clearly in tomorrow's episode coz most the viewers didn't clearly understand this!

Also while in Pak he was always was conflicted and most of the times Sid overpowered Sadiq just like u said but once he came back to India, we never saw that conflict..it vanished ! There was a lot of contradictory behaviour on Sid's part which never got explained

Secondly you know makers had decided in December only that they will only make 110 episodes so they did have plenty of time to write a befitting ending and tie up all the loose ends

In fact the screenplay writer Aniruddh Guha mentioned in his post yesterday that he wished there were even lesser number of episodes !

I am not sure how that would have helped coz even now the climax seemed pretty rushed to me and most of the important questions got left unanswered with so many loose ends !

I hope his epilogue episode sums up his journey and gives a befitting and a sensible closure to this wonderful character coz Siddhant deserves it and so does his fans 😊

(P.S. - TRPs don't play a major game when it comes to a finite series coz they have a huge bank of episodes which they shoot well in advance so they cannot change the story as per the TRPs unlike daily soaps)

Amazing post tm. Yup sid's one grave mistake overshadowed all the good he did as a soldier of siddhant Thakur . We all love him & have literally cheered for him when he managed to escape from Pakistan . Everyone rejoiced at his return & we all have felt that pride when ever he said lt. Siddhant Thakur , Rajasthan rifles , Indian army. This show boasted of a stellar cast . I can't imagine anyone else in place of these characters . Sid turned for love & Lala's Cruel game of humanity changed his thought process . Until last we all had hoped that something unexpected might come up & Sadiq would be revealed as just a facade but it wasn't to be . He had felt that helplessness when he told Vikram after learning the truth that he has come too far now to make things right. He knew he can't go back to restore the things they were & also can't see Vikram -iman standing in a dilemma due to him . Siddhant couldn't survive that Guilt & the only way he could have been liberated was through death only . I don't think anyone was happy at his death because everyone had a soft corner for him & wanted a different ending other then that of Jai for him

Thanks guys for the encouragement.
I guess audience is still not really completely ready for finite off beat shows. Or at least a huge chunk of people aren't. Which is why fate of such shows is more or less similar. Anyway they are finite and on top of it the TRP game results in late time slots and series being cut short further. It isn't the first time that this has happened on Star Plus. It happened with Tamanna and Dehleez too.

I like the intellectually driven discussion here. People question logic and want loops to close.

All I can say is thankfully even amid the whole time slot change and episode cut drama, makers didn't resort to senseless crap like plastic surgeries, memory loss, time leap blah blah. They kept it about being a humanly mistake till the end (rushed but till the end) ;)

Else imagine an explanation like Sadiq being Lala's terrorist only having surgeried his face to look like Sid!! :D
