Look at the situation in hospital. It is 2-3 people who are controlling 50 people. Reason those 2 people have arms. 50 are unarmed.
Isnt the same thing in life also. Why majority of right thinking people are held hostages by a handful of minority or wrong thinking people.
When crime happens why do the criminal escape. Mostly because of silence of majority as everyone is afraid. I am not talking about a third party here, I am talking about myself too. When faced with such situation we are numbed. But should we.
Yes those terrorists have physical arms, but what stops the thoughts of 50 people. Dont you know to communciate your thoughts through gestures, body language. Whatever they do 2-3 people cannot monitor 50 people. Gestures, hidden messages can be passed through. It is a matter of time if 50 people can come together and take the arms from those 2-3 idiots. Because as 1 we are powerless, but collectively we have power.
Problem is we think with the rules of the battle, dealing with people like terrorists you have think outside the rule book. Instead of expecting one man to be a hero if everyone can support him or her we can come out of the hostage situation.
When I watched the movie Neerja I had goosebumps. Neerja was an ordinary girl, a simple air hostess but she showed extraordinary courage and presence of mind to save close to 300 passengers from that terrorist attack. She foiled the terrorist attempt. We dont know the passengers in the Pan Am flight, but we know Neerja Bhanot.
Why should we succumb to terrorist attacks. Why should we bow before demands. Even now Iman is going for discussion. It reminds me of peace talks that happens between India and Pak. Agra summit, Lahore Summit you name it summits have happened. We are talking, talking and they know we will only talk. Wont act till the surgical strike happened in Sep 28 and India did a diplomatic coup by getting the support of SAARC nations when it pulled out of SAARC summit. US, UK and Russia didnt impose any sanction on us nor did China came for a war. Most of the fears are imaginary because of our perceptions. Terrorism is a global problem. If any country attack because they are attacked, no one is going to support the perpetrator of crime directly. You act then talk. Discussion can go for years, but continuous action will ensure the other party knows they cant get away every time doing attack on us.
