JNDSD~ My take~ Friday 3.3.17 Running rings around!
Running rings around is a popular saying broadly speaking, meaning to outclass , or attempts to outsmart an adversary. Young children usually try it on with their parents showing more skills than grownups. so as to test their limits, trying match up to their parents or attempting to show they are faster and better. Overall it's when people consciously or unconsciously attempt to outrun and out class each other. To me the episode revolves around this saying. Characters are trying in their own inimitable way to have the upper hand. In the story line the technique is used to draw attention either to a character or some event.
In the opening scene Madhav is seen jumping on the settee bursting with life rearing to go! His exuberance runs rings around Suman who is wary of this child. His general vitality and congeniality to all but cold distance towards her robs her off peace. Madhav's tandev heralds more discomfiture for Suman as Madhav's source of life, Raghav phones... Madhav's runs rings around his mother Vividha too, as he gives her the chase.. only to grab the phone before the witch in white could get her hands on it! Well, it's the deities who run rings around those who target the innocence, truth and purity of a child! For this child is the missing link between two souls waiting to be connected again. It is meant to be under the demand of chastisement, when Vividha grabs the phone from him and answers the call on Suman's behalf..
The girl's voice, her businesslike manner runs rings around Raghav, as within him the girls voice touches a heart. One who is being gradually excavated from within Raghav. Then a pause, bewilderment.. but even the silence between two strangers on both ends of the phone runs rings around the two of them. Questions dwindle, a sense of familiarity , a faint nearness, a strange curiosity.. hello..helloo.. goes the girl's voice and runs rings around his present and rock him back and forth to the bride in his dreams.. hello hello.. melts into, promise to stand by me forever?..the very voice in his dream.. Atharv's soul rings out with an old tune, depart not from my heart.. Suman watches with feline eyes and holds her breath. This is a test if Vividha can put two and two together.. that Raghav the caller for Suman is in fact Atharv? Did he recognise that the girl was Vividha? Or did he not hear her ? and she not him? Suman's peace is punctured, as such concerns, run rings around her troubled mind..
Vividha's fleeting moment of perchance connecting the caller to the one who walked out of her life four year's ago is cut short as Suman knows exactly how to run rings around all.. before anyone can out do her guile. Vividha she overpowers by throwing her off the scent by giving her some story of Raghav calling from bad network at the hermitage. Alongside Suman maintains her, in their faces ascetic image of being a woman of god and prayer.
Ankit snake in the grass ! runs rings of possible revenge against Ravish by colluding with the goons. But later his plan adapts according to the demands of the crooks. It's the boy Madhav they want. This four year old runs rings around all up to no good evil souls around. It's as Ravish says he born not to cry, but to make others cry. Cry for mercy! when he out does evil by his truth in word and deed!
Another call for Suman from the person Raghav , who now runs rings around her. But she craftily dismisses him as nuisance caller who she'll deal with later. Vividha feds her son , calms him down from his running rings around all! Sujata and Vividha two women close to Atharv's heart , celebrate Madhav's milestone of first day at school with freshly made confectionary and out smart's Suman's undercover dark deeds by offering Madhav the epitome of goodness an offertory befitting the gods fruit and laddos!
When Suman gets back to Atharv.. like his son Madhav, he too runs rings around her, by quizzing about the girl he spoke and heard. He shakes Suman up by asking her was it likely he might have heard the girl in the past? Suman overpowers him.. it's very unlikely that he may have met he girl as he has never been here where she is..
Atharv is far from satisfied from Suman's brushing aside statement. For his heart tells him, the voice is far from new for him .It's old, archived, just waiting to be dusted off from the annals of four years ready to be heard and spoken again ! one more upper hand Atharv scores upon her.. he has a surprise lined up for her and if she can't make it back a.s.a.p then he'll just to come and collect her! seems he got her by the throat.. what surprise has he in store for her? In fact Atharv even with no memory of his past four years has enough clout to run rings around the family he currently lives with, as he keeps all guessing what surprise has he up his sleeve!
While Madhav heads for his first day at school! Atharv somehow ensures that his mothers stay is cut short where ever she is. Madhav is the centre of all attention . As the light of truth burns for all, who worship it and aspire to seek the truth. Madhav like a magnet is attracted to all the elders in his house hold ,to be showered with blessings and divine wisdom. But the child is repelled by the sight and even touch of the evil one! One look at him and Suman can see from his eyes the windows of his soul how much righteous anger the child has for her... his accusing looks run rings around her and she keep sup appearances and blesses him.. as Madhav digs his heels in and point blank refuses any contact with her! All notice his reluctance to receive her blessings. For Madhav can see right through the mask she dons. One touch of her hands upon his shoulder and he shrinks from her touch and digs the nails of his fingers on her arm.. warning her with his cold bold authoritative eyes ,don't mess with the people I love! Out stumped by his looks she too glares.. one month only.. and he too will be mine to manipulate! So Suman's spell on Madhav.. ended up disastrously! Out classed by a child!
Vividha runs rings around Ravish with her maternal tears of parting from her baby for the first time. Like a typical mother she urges Ravish if she can hang about to keep an eye on her boy? Her boy though, confident, ready to keenly face school runs rings of assurance around his weepy mamma and sends her home packing with his dad with a wave of his hand.. a mother's intuition.. Vividha had said to Suman earlier, like something terrible was about to happen?
Father and son Atharv and Madhav both play rings around of hide and seek... Madhav hides in a child's play at school.. where he is sought by kidnappers ! At Vashist house ,Atharv plays his game of hide a surprise.. till he gathers them in one go they get to seek his surprise. In the meanwhile he keeps from Suman to kalindi the think tank of the family. to the petty scavengers Guddi and chintu racking their brains about what surprise the dense Atharv has planned?
The highlight has to be the brief link up between Atharv and Vividha over the phone. Strangers yet acquainted by the soul. The fact that Atharv is prompted by his dreams and images of a particular girl is making him more curious about his past . In turn he is becoming more forthright , which has to be a positive sign..the precap is alarming a child kidnapped in broad day light! and that too from a nursery school ..to my mind it raises security questions. Madhav's kidnapping ,who is the master mind behind it?? Who is the man in the hoodie? Who is likely to benefit from his kidnapping ?me watching to see if Madhav's mishap pulls his parents together more rapidly ? hamlet53 4.3.17
