LAHORE: In a somewhat interesting turn of events, popular Pakistani actors Rabi Pirzada and Naseem Vicky have decided to collaborate on an Urdu film, shooting for which will reportedly begin soon. The duo made the announcement during a press conference at Lahore Press Club, adding that they are currently finalising the cast for the yet-to-be-titled film.

According to both Rabi and Naseem, the aim behind this latest venture is to revive the dwindling film industry of Lahore, which was once the hub of Pakistani entertainment. They are also hoping to stimulate viewership for local cinema in the country.

Lollywood still trying to recover from Sultan Rahi's loss

Rabi claimed that Pakistan's preference for Indian films has gradually been ruining its youth, who are completely forgetting their culture and traditions. "Every other film released in Bollywood happens to be about crime or some criminal activities, especially films of Salman Khan. My question is, what are Indian film-makers teaching the youth? It seems like they are just promoting crime," she stated. "There was a time when Pakistani cinema was at its peak, making films with moral lessons and plots highlighting social ethics. We were educating the society through our films but Bollywood has changed all of that."

The singer and actor explained that this is why she decided to join hands with Naseem. "We decided we will produce a story that carries a special lesson for Pakistani children," Rabi said. "There is no shortage of talent in our country. Naseem is writing the script of this film himself and soon, the cast will be finalised as well."

Are Shaan and Ali Azmat collaborating on a new project?

Naseem echoed Rabi's sentiments adding that Lollywood was once a great film industry that churned out some excellent films and actors. It suffered a slump over the last couple of decades but now that it has turned over a new leaf, the time is right to make a socially-aware film.

"The revival of our film industry has started and Rabi and I wish it to flourish here in Lahore once again. There is a dire need for us to produce films that attract viewers and that is what we will try our best to do with our joint venture. We will try to bring the audience back to cinema," shared Naseem. "You see, while Lollywood might have come alive again, it is still yet to produce a feature film that sheds light on the Pakistani identity. I am hopeful that in the coming months, Lahore will become the hub of local film-making again," he added.

Rabi also revealed her recently composed new song Rashk-e-Qamar at the press conference.

some comments on that article..

Rabi ji, for you and your cohorts... by all means do not watch Indian films, especially films of Salman Khan but for god sake do not propose to ruin entertainment opportunities for the remaining youth. FYI, our mothers/fathers, grandmothers/grandfathers all watched Indian movies and... surprisingly did not forget their culture and traditions either!!.

It's easy to blame someone else for your own mistakes. In the sixties and seventies our films were as good as indians. Than in the 80's General Zia ul haq banned anything related to arts and suffocated the pakistani youth. The seeds we sowed in the 80's we are paying the price now. Sports suffered, films suffered, Jihad was promoted officially by the government and look where Pakistan is now. No sports team is coming to Pakistan for obvious reasons. Everybody is blaming Pakistan for mistakes we even didn't commit. Instead of blaming others for our problems we need to look honestly and correct ourself by not bashing others but improving ourself and get rid of this negative mind set. Develop arts academies sports grounds for youth and have inter school, colleges and universities competitions and you will see the results very soon. Pakistanis are very talented people they just need opportunities and right direction. Film is a very strong medium you guys are doing a good job but do it for the right reasons and not blaming others. Overseas Pakistanis would love to involve joint ventures with the right projects. Tap into that market and you will be amazed to see people to people contact will help Pakistan film industry big time. Good luck be positive and compete and not blame. Long live Pakistan.

Indian films are ruining your youth, seriously? 😆 😆 Don't watch then, simple!

Start out a protest or persuade your censor board to ban all Indian films. Oh, and stop dancing to Bollywood tunes at your functions (weddings, mehendi ceremonies etc)😉

Any comments on Ajmal Kasab and the likes Madam?

i am a pakistani and i work with so many indians
we all are on great terms and so cordial with each other

however on this forum I constantly see such negativity between both nations..with articles after articles which are either anti pak or anti india or some clowns from either nation giving such bizarre and senseless statements..recent being this one..what a delusional and senseless statement..
