I just saw the Shivaay Omkara exchange in DBO. What a lovely scene! Charming, charming piece of scriptwriting, in so many ways! No matter how much they want to keep running these two shows as separate parts, they should ALWAYS have a part of both shows everyday where the brothers catch up and chat. They are AWESOME together.
Shivaay continuing to be big brother-cum-father. It made me wonder -- exactly how much older is he compared to Om? Is the big conflict between the Tej and Pinky just that Shivaay made it to being "eldest son" by a whisker? I just _loved_ how calmly and rationally he psycho-analysed Om ... for Om! I could almost see Om mentally rolling his eyes at Shivaay when he remarked that now Shivaay was taling unto Om what Om used to tell Shivaay. 😆 And the sweetness of the brothers talking about Shviaay's Anika conundrum was off the charts. They are such good brothers!
One thing that jarred a bit was how stony faced Omkara was through most of it. Maybe that is his character in this new spin-off show? But he seems very different from the gentle eyed soul of Shivaay's brother.
But really, as usual, I was fascinated by what the scene told us about Shivaay.
So he is still torn about how to deal with her in his life. The Shivaay Singh Oberoi, who never gives two hoots about society and protocols, stressing about how Anika will fit into his life as his wife. Given how much he doesn't care about propriety, I wonder how much of the stress is the fact that Anika doesn't know her past, so much as that Anika doesn't care that (she has said that) she doesn't. I am sure that he would work with her to help her find out, except that she has always told him that she doesn't give a hoot. But he does care. Apparently, still a lot. So much so that he can't even tell her that he loves her, to not give her any hope that she can be a long term part of his life. Poor Shivaay. But his internal conflict is so... charming, darnit! 😆
The truly new fascinating part of Shivaay was not that. It was his lecture that life moves on! Despite how much up shit creek you may be right now, that sometime in the future, you will look back and it will be less painful. That part blew my mind. Was that lecture for Om, or for himself? That no matter what has happened in the past, the present will always take priority? And one day, the present will become the past too? Profound Singh Oberoi!
This part made me think that, in his mind, Shivaay thinks he will be able to walk away from Anika, no matter how much he feels for her right now. Profound Singh Oberoi, no matter how insane he becomes at the very thought of not having Anika with him, may actually be thinking that yes, it will be beyond imaginable pain to lose her, but that that pain too will pass? He certainly hasn't ACTED that way so far. Since he knew her for what she is, without the cover of Daksh's lies, every single time that she has started walking away, he has ALWAYS done something to stop her. Is this his way of preparing himself for the moment that Anika will walk away from him, and he will have no way of stopping her, to live with the pain of actually letting her go?
Because, let's face it. Anika's problem is not Shivaay today. It's his mother. I think Shivaay knows that he can manage his own Name-Bloodties-Family conflict. As I said earlier, as long as Anika can be persuaded that she should find out about her family and her past, he will work with her to find out something about it, and that should satisfy his need to know.
But I think he knows that he cannot control his mother's conflict. I also think that he (like Anika) also knows that Anika will not ever do anything to destroy family ties. He is in an impossible bind. Caught between two women, both of them who worship blood and family ties above everything else, even his happiness. Poor intelligent, all-seeing Shivaay.
I can HARDLY wait to figure out HOW he solves this _little_ problem!! 🥱
Phew. Now leaving all the profoundness of Profound Singh Oberoi aside, there _is_ one little puzzle I thought of because I disobeyed the all important "Don't think!" instruction before watching the show. So how exactly has Shivaay managed to land up in Bareilly just in the nick of time to save Om from mass beating by thugs? I remember that little bit in the original show where Shivaay tells Priyanka in exasperation that Om is so stubborn in not leaving things half done? Was this supposed to have happened just after that?
Okay, stopping the thinking now! 😆
PS:!! Priya. just reminded me of something that was quick and small and yet soared high and hopeful over the silent desperation of Shivaay's seemingly unsolvable conundrum.
First, when he is talking about the present pain, Shivaay smiling at Om and saying We will set it right. Because as long as they can, this show will be the best show ever on Hindi serial-land. 😊
Second, and what I loved more: Both Om and Shivaay looking at each other, and saying, somewhat wryly, but with full conviction To be continued!
This story ain't over yet. Let his women bring it on. He and his brothers WILL manage to set it right.
(Or is this PS: part just me NOT thinking? 😆)
