Inspector is confused soul. One day he tells he's sure it's Maya who's the murderer & the very next day he goes & arrests Jhanvi based on assumptions. It was Jhanvi's gun with her fingerprints but that's not how Ashwin was killed. He was killed with a syringe.. so how can he be sure that it's done by jhanvi!

He knows that Maya loves her mother and by implicating Jahnavi, he maybe emotionally blackmailing Maya to confess.
