I always saw Maya to be different than the usual heroines portrayed in Indian Television. The perfect way for me to define Maya was
not a damsel in distress, but a hero in heels (both figuratively as well as literally). She knew how to get what she wants, either the right way, or the wrong.
Lately, in Beyhadh, I don't know why I feel Maya's character has been weakening. The lady who once got away with slapping a police officer, was today helplessly begging to be punished by him instead of her husband having to pay for her deeds. My question throughout was, why? Last time, Maya gave him a slap, this time she should have given him two. An influential socialite, a powerful person, if she could get Ayan out of prison without following the usual protocol, why not her own husband? I understand, this is a bigger case, it dealt with murder and not a comparatively insignificant crime, but when did Maya turn into a helpless person?
Even Saanjh figured out a solution, it was visible that the girl was putting in her best effort, still Maya could do nothing? I don't understand the situation at all.
I also feel that lately the Beyhadh script has weakened, while at the beginning of the show, the storyline was captivating, enchanting and addictive, the only reason I'm watching Beyhadh now is because I would not want to leave the series mid-way and the execution is still fairly intact.
It breaks my heart to see my favourite character crumble under peer pressure, not because I can't stand her tears, but because the reason for her tears isn't logical enough to me. Although I hate this new entry police officer, I must say he got one thing right, what was happening at the police station was definitely family drama.
Let me substantiate my statement saying that Maya's character is suddenly turning weaker, she is also turning dumber, the smart business woman CEO today said 'mera dil jaanta hai ki Arjun yeh nahi kar sakta'. That isn't a valid reason to get him out of the place, emotions have to be kept aside when it comes to these situations. Maya knows well enough that the police inspector would not consider what her 'heart knew', so why even say that in the first place?
No matter how much I ship ArYa, I need Maya to be back to her powerful independent no-nonsense attitude, I want my old Maya back ðŸ˜
