Deepika Padukone may have lost Majidi film due to PR overdrive

There is no doubt that Deepika Padukone is at the top of her game. And we all know that Padmavati will take her to another level of her career. And yet, the actress is leaving no stone unturned to make a dent in global cinema. It is this over enthusiasm that may have cost Dippy her Majid Majidi film. Her team went about town circulating pictures of her auditions for Majidi's Beyond The Clouds in a Mumbai locality and that apparently didn't bode too well with the Iranian maverick.

Her appearances and interviews in the US during the promotion of XXX too smacked of eagerness to make a mark in Hollywood. The film was eventually met with lukewarm response in the West as well.

Says a source, "Deepika was very close to getting the part. But when the pictures from her screen test made it into the press, she lost the opportunity."

Perhaps more restraint is the way forward, Deepika?
