JNDSD~31.1.17~ I believe.. help thou my disbelief
Even the strongest ones of us come across moments in our lives when our firm convictions can face our skepticism. Those are pressing times and we can be most vulnerable. Those of us with the good sense who put effort into combating the mistrust by tackling it headlong are the ones amongst us who succeed in seeing the light of truth at the end of our tunnel of mistrust. To have a supportive network of people who invest unflinching trust in us are a boon to have from the gods, as they too help in alleviating our existing doubts. The episode is a peep into forged relationships that can complicate due to group dynamics. After all the family unit, both closer and wider constitutes of individuals with views and opinions. These views can have a bearing on how individuals react and what decisions they make. We see Atharva and Vividha both have families that have an impact on their demeanor.
The episode for me overall shows how certain techniques are used in story- telling to engage the viewer . there are references to objects like medals that raise a person's stature higher than others. There is reference to objects that are personalized , like Vividha's purse, diary , letter. Atharva s laptop, his bike . All these props are used to bolster the plot. Vividha's diary carries the pictures of Ravish and her, is used to orchestrate further doubts about Vividha's exact relationship with Ravish in Atharva's . Atharva's out of fuel bike has its own significance..it creates delay in him and Vividha meeting to clear the questions rising in his mind. His laptop and her designs signify their reasons and motivations to bring out the best in others ,perhaps entrepreneurial skills? Ravish's medal for prowess is to indicate the respect and honor the peoples of a nation have for the soldier who guards the borders and freedom of the nation putting his life at stake. The letter that gets into Atharva's hands and how the words in first person tweaked by a evil hand changes the complete tone of the letter. A well thought out gesture, polite congratulatory words and , faith in another's understanding turns into a grim misunderstanding for the reader..
The Inclusion of events that aggravate an existing situation further rather than retrieval.. The episode also contains those moments in which things happen for a reason. Like Vividha's friend phones right at the time when her originally penned letter to Ravish is picked up by some invisible hand and replaced with the words I in singular , changed to us and we in plural. Then thought process is conveyed in hints. As seen in the opening scene where Suman half suggests Vividha coming to the award ceremony would delight Ravish. Sujata hints to Vividha to chivvy Atharva to attend. The episode further has moments when characters walk into situations at the wrong time and picking up only the tail end of the conversation .. like Atharva does when Sujata is all praises for Ravish who at this young age knows how to honor and respect relationships..thus seemingly as it is, getting the wrong end of the stick. Then there is to me, a symbolic situation to do with sewing and stitching ! and what do you know its uma who somehow stitches up her daughter Vividha .. invariably she puts down her daughter in around about way. In this episode too she hides her own possible collusion with her husband Kailesh regards the photos ending up in Vividha's notebook, but point blank suggests that Vividha is still suffering from Post stress disorder syndrome ! Thus uma's clumsiness in making loose stitches refers to her ineptness in securing her daughters future , doing enough!
However there are some positive notes in the episode that continue to be the ongoing ,so far unhampered power of the show .. the civil and amicable relationship between Suman and Sujata , though I feel Sujata is the god-fearing one. How she genuinely lauds Ravish as one of her own. Vividha s strength in declaring to all Atharva is the one she loves. Vividha's stubborn spirit in clearing misgivings with Atharva ,her ability to sense through his silence with a view to problem solving ,rather than let problems linger especially so between her and him . The bond of love between the girl and next door. The presence of Sujata and Indumati pointers of the right way out , the two who thrash things out for both Vividha and Atharva. Unafraid to stand up and be counted for the right thing.. The presence of three strong leads, Vividha, Atharva , Ravish seen by me as the trinity of virtue! committed to.. fighting vice in all shape and form! hamlet53 1.2. 17
Please to note I have skipped for now the necessity of throwing the spanner in the works technique by CV's and the aspiration to egg on the target rating point by introducing the much weather beaten track of separating the lovers...
