Horror shows on television may have gripped our imagination, but for actor Kiran Dubey (Uma in Miilee), a real-life spooky experience has left her shaken.
This has led her to move out of the 2BHK apartment in Pataliputranagar, Oshiwara, which the actress claims is haunted. She also attributes the turmoil in her personal life relating to boyfriend Karan Kapur to the ill-luck the house bears.
Ominous floods
"It all started during the July 26 floods, when my driver stayed back at my place. The next morning, he told me about this unusual spectre he saw. Initially, I refused to believe him but a chain of events following that has affected my health; my personal and professional life has taken a beating.

Whenever I napped in the afternoon, I felt restless and feverish. I would get irritated easily and have a bad temper," she says. The apparition living in the flat is said to be a lady in white robes.
"It was a brand new flat when I moved in, but electricians working there said they had felt negative vibes all the time," asserts Kiran.
Adds driver Manoj, " I don't know whether to trust my senses or dismiss it. Another day, we were about to leave for a shoot when madam realised she had left her icebox on the dining table. I went back to fetch it and to my shock, saw a woman walk out of the kitchen and enter the bedroom. When I enquired about it, the watchman said the lift would start working on its own in the middle of the night and once, somebody tried strangling him when he was asleep."

Breaking relationship
A few weeks back, the actress filed an FIR in the Oshiwara police station stating that her boyfriend had ransacked her house in her absence. This led to Kapur's arrest, though he was soon released on bail.
Says Dubey, "I really don't know what's there in that house. Our relationship took a beating and was on the verge of becoming bitter."
Adds Kapur, "Now we're back together. But one lesson I have learnt is that there are certain incidents you can't reason out."
God over evil
Kiran Dubey has now moved out to a new apartment in Lokhandwala. The actress complains that she has become gullible to all kinds of superstitions post her traumatic experience.
She says, "This time I got a special puja done along with the sthapana of my mandir, before entering my new home. I strongly believe that only God can overpower all evil."
