Choice of songs

In the promo they show Khudabaksh singing a Punjabi song. Also a lot of other contestants have sang Punjabi songs (though most from Hindi movies), then why can't our South Indians sing their regional songs?
A bit unfair isn't it?
Either everyone sings Hindi songs or if regional is allowed then not only Punjabi but every language should be allowed, this is Indian idol after all.

I know Malavika has sung songs with a little Tamil in between but the songs haven't been Tamil per se.

This already is giving North Indians an edge.

Your thoughts?

Agree!! They can have a regional round and ask the contestants to sing the songs of the region they come from.

Really... I want too see people singing in their respective language or region so that they can give their best without any worry...

N it's rare to have other language innbollywood
Mayb that's why punjabi is allowed..

Nevertheless I wud love to c each of them singing their regional best 😃

a Punjabi Bollywood song I'll still understand (though not fair) but what Khudabaksh sings today isn't a Bollywood song.

Nothing against a contestant here, but I'd like the North Indians to sing a South Indian song to understand how difficult it is to sing in a different language. And having to go into double imtihaan because you sang in a language that's not your own and didn't do a great job is worse.

May be bcoz Indian Idol mainly focuses on Bollywood songs and nowadays punjabi songs are an integral part of BW!
