thank you for sharing your story with us, I know it can't be easy especially when it feels like the world won't understand. I hope you are doing well and everything works out for you.
For maya, depression is only part of the problem, there is something more serious about her that goes beyond depression but still is a mental problem. No matter what the real truth is, Janvi was right. any kind of mental sickness is called pagalpan then the individual is isolated by everyone. Not saying what maya is doing is right, but what is needed, is for her to accept her problem and then seek help, because she desperately needs it.Saanjh never considered Maya because to her, she was the girl with "the dimagi problem" who was out to ruin her arjun. When arjun is involved she sees no one else, her main goal was to save him. the way she was telling him about maya then questioning her, was downright insensitive. when she realized that maya is mentally sick, she should have been a little more sensitive..

I appreciate your courage for sharing your experience & happy for you that you have got over it. The CV's are misleading the people further saying that mental illness is a pagalpan. It really spreads negativity to the society and those who are mentally ill will prefer to suffer rather than going to the psychiatrist or the psychologists. If they don't get patients, whatever they have studied will go waste.

Thanks for this post. I have lost all respect and any bit of sympathy and likeness for Saanjh's character seeing the recent episodes. I can't believe she was being so insensitive, uneducated moron, and so judgemental. Is she really so called a white character? Right now, she seems like same as Ashwin for me. I can't believe she was making such a big deal of depression as if it wasn't a depression but a disease about murdering people or something. That's how she was acting. Regardless of what Maya's real truth could be or if Saanjh found Maya can also harm others, but even before any of that Saanjh was already insensitive, educated moron, and extremely judgemental.
Is it the writers or do majority of people in India really think depression to be some sort of crime? Because I honestly don't get the recent episodes seeing how the writers made depression as It is like some sort of murder or something really bad which you have to disclose to your spouse😕. In the US, we talk about it opnely and it's not something of a big deal. May be the older generation or some have problem. But so far from my experience, I haven't come across such an idiot like Saanjh. Going to psychiatrist or taking pills for depression or anxiety is not a big deal here as it was made out in the show... I have close people with such problems, and they are not mad. Neither was I when I was going through extremely low point once. It was the worst time of my life which I wouldnt even wish on my enemy. Many when they go through depression and feel like there's no way, they try to kill themselves or think that's the only way. Doesn't mean they are criminals, mad, or doesn't deserve happiness. Eventually many also go out of it. God, Saanjh's character has fallen so low and pathetic. Now I won't feel bad for anything bad happening to her. Seeing her this insensitive and judgmental, may be if she goes through real problems in life and get depression or any other sort of problem, may be then she will realize. She has always lived a happy and secure life under her parents' wings. So now she go out and judge others. That's the main reason she never understood Arjun's pain and could never connect to him the way Maya could. She thinks she's know it all, people should just listen to her, and could care less what other person may have gone through and why they are they way they are.I hope you feel better. If anything, it makes one extremely strong as you have said. :)

Thank you for sharing your experience. I stopped watching the show because of the way they were handling mental illness- the way it was being villainized, romanticized and a way of inducing thrill and suspense seemed very offensive. Most of all the actors or makers of the show failed to address it outside of the show too, instead they only promoted the show as the characters having different shades, the story having twists and turns, and it getting more suspenseful- for mental illness to be used as a tool to do this was very disheartening for me. My aunt has being living with severe depression and bipolar disorder and so for the family to actually sit down and watch this was not an option. I started watching it hoping to see strong female leads, but to have that at the expense of its portrayal of mental illness was not something I wanted to continue supporting. Thank you for sharing your experience.
