I love content movie. Occasionally fantasy too. But content movie are quickly turning into niche movie. They don't really connect with mass. I can understand the author's frustration. Again 100 crore quick buck movie template is doing more harm than good. 70 percent of audience is mass. It may seem laughable to us but not to people who are shunning theaters because it is not their story.

The new generation actors are criminally under utilized. They don't want to join hands, don't take time to know their audience and are content to remain in ivory towers. 50+ Year Old actors are doing roles that 30+ regional actors are doing in regional movies. No new Super stars are getting born on ticket window.

There is no universal connectivity amongst Bollywood audience and movies are failing big time. Movies have to reach out to its grass root audience. Raees can be litmus test to see if masala can be repackaged in different wrapping. But it will also need younger actors to make movies that are more universal in appeal. And like it or not masala is Bollywood.

I hate to admit this but author has a point. Bollywood score card from 2016 is disaster. It needs to improve. Reduce Budget and improve appeal. It is time super stars pair with younger stars or younger stars pair and make movies. And clash is bad for movie business.

The year was generally bad for Hollywood but I think it was just specific to last year
