Copy-pasting this from my post yesterday.

When was the last time we saw a sniveling, whimpering, crying-at-the-drop-of-a-hat FL? I think it was during the Akshara-Saadhana-Balika Vadhu era. And that was ages ago!

Indian Television writers have since then "experimented" with the FLs, it's a different thing that they've, more or less, gone down the same drain, i.e become sniveling, whimpering, crying doormats. 🥱

And that is the main reason Shivani is hurting the eyes of the neutral viewers. She's someone who has grown up with primitive morals that wouldn't find favour in today's world. Even her friends are more advanced than her.

Point is, we are not used to watching FLs like her. Someone so primitively naive.

And there was a reason behind her being this way: the writers wanted to put someone as naive, guileless but seemingly innocent person right into a snake pit!

They wanted her to face and go through cruelty of the worst kind possible. They wanted to shatter her beliefs, her dreams of getting married to that one man whom her guardians will choose, only to realize that it was noting more than an elaborate plot!

I myself have been pretty averse to women like her in real life and reel, but the point is that, women AND men like Shivani do exist (trust me, my mother being one of them who've now turned into an iron woman). It's not just Shivani whose thinking is regressive, Rangeela being a slave to some debauch lord isn't progressive either (it cuts both ways).

But what surprises me every time I come to your post are the comments. 😳

While you judge Shivani, the character and offer constructive criticism towards the actress, I can't say the same about everyone else. This show is just 5-days old and the forum is brimming with negativity... *Sigh*. Not something I can eradicate, but I can only ask people to love and support your favourite instead of putting someone down to glorify your favourite.

Trust me, it shows your favourite in a very poor light.

That's all I had to say. Peace out. 😳

I agree with all that you say Lilith but having said that I really cannot bring myself to like her anymore. I am desperate for her to grow into a strong woman but again that seems a distant hope. I have nothing against such girls or the actor too, its just the character is too drab.

And I haven't seen SH or KY2 ever, so I am a pretty new thing on this forum. I have seen glimpses of Param in SH and Vikkas ki fan hoon from MNB days.

Here's Niti as Nandini in KY2...

^Just one of the awesome things her character had done in the show. This punch was what made me sit and take notice.

Now you know, I'm probably more disappointed than anyone else for Niti going from THAT to THIS. 😆

I was like "what was she thinking"??

But, 2-3 episodes down and I probably had my answer. I guess our dearest ST saahab needed the most phool-jaisi character to make our colourful man realise the extent of damage he has inflicted with his bhakti and self-righteousness (as you have astutely pointed out).

Not that the audience wouldn't have sympathized with someone stronger, but it seems that for ST, it's either Shivani-like doll or Veer's-mom-what's-her-name like churail...there's no in-between. 😆
