Sorry if someone has not watched Dear Zindagi but I was just wondering ...Does Dr. Jehangir happen to fall in love with Kaira towards the end? I mean its so there in his eyes. When he sends her away and says he can't meet her from now on...dunno why I felt he has fallen for her. Did anyone feel the same?

Yes they both did !!
That chair creek in the end was symbolic for Jug to have lost control over himself.

No, he definitely didn't feel the same way about her. The creek at the end was just to leave the audience wondering and suspenseful.

Yes, he did. I guess that was the reason he took a day's break in between and did not give any explanation to Kaira.

The creak was just for cinematic drama and suspense. It leaves room for audience to interpret their own scenario.
For some perhaps, he did fall for Kaira but held back due to professionalism.

For me the whole movie and story holds validity if he doesn't. Everything does not have to boil down to romance. To me their equation was similar to Laurent and Shashi in English Vinglish. Jug being Shashi and Kaira being Laurent. Kaira falls for Jug, but Jug's affections for her have always been platonic. Maybe he cared for her more than a therapist should. Maybe he flirted a little and basked in the attention. But the equation from his side was always purely platonic.

No I don't think he did. He was always platonic towards her. And later kaira too seemed to have moved on. It seemed to me that she had an infactuation for jugs as he brought her out of the depression. So she tends to feel love for him. I think her moving on with aditya roy kapoor is symbolic that mayb she just had infactuation fr jugs.

I dont think Kaira even fell for him.. It is normal for patients to start getting close personally to their therapist.. I think she confused that for love.. Again they say if you have issues with men (which Kaira did).. Say if you have been violated or have trouble expressing your feelings to men.. You should look for a male therapist.. You find that someone can respect without violating you.. Or in Kiara case she found a man she could openly express herself to Jug without having to worry about getting him not caring or listening the way her parents did when she was little. He broke the ice for her.. So she could later do the same with other men..
I dont think their love story was the main element of the story.. It was about how mental health and how its sill a stigma in indian society.. and getting help doesnt mean their is something wrong with you

I don't think either of them fell for each other actually. Kaira got emotionally attached to him because he listened to her, cared for her & guided her out of her darkness. She mistook that attachment for love & you can clearly see she moved on. That doesn't however take away from the fact that he left a deep impact on her life & that he would be always at the back of her mind. On Jugs' end, too, I think there was a similar attachment & attraction. She became more than just a patient, unlike his other patients so he felt sad when he had to let her go & break her heart, thus the chair creek. But it wasn't love per se.

The story would loose its validity if either of them were to fall for each other because it was primarily centred around the need for mental awareness & how it is equally important for people who have issues to seek help. As such, there was a need to keep it professional as Jugs explains to Kaira (to people who need help). Your therapist is just your therapist. They may speak to you in a friendly manner but that is because it is their job. They are paid to care. They are not your friends.
