By the last month of Season 1 , I got thoroughly fed up of Dev's character, his charm faded , his every step and action pathetic. But I can't blame him, he needed a lesson so severe to snap out the gravitational pull the black hole called Ishwari was to his life.
Yes, Ishwari was a devoted mother, she did everything she could for her son, but she heaped on all her baggage onto him, instead of letting him grow and be his own man. It took the love of his life Sonakshi leaving him, in such a cruel manner, to give figurative 2 tight slaps to his face, to show him the mirror of what he'd become. He grew up.

Dev Dixit 2.0 may look hot ( My God, How Hawt!☺️) but he's simmering in a slow boil underneath. Everybody has hurt him, disregarded his selfless intentions, his lack of guile/ malice. He finally saw what he was for everybody, the provider, the profitable servant, everybody's insurance policy to a luxurious life.

And now, he's serving passive aggressive plates of revenge to each and every one of them. With a smile on his face. They don't even know they are being punished.

He walks into his own house, like a honored guest. Like someone who pays all the bills but refuses to stay there because it suffocates him. The warmest welcome is to the innocent Golu, whom he genuinely loves, but refuses to be a substitute parent to. He shows the little boy fun and joy, saves him from teacher's ire, but does nothing to help him become a better boy. More ice cream, more joyrides, more funtimes, he's the "Fun Uncle".

Next ex-GKB (i grumble and spit everytime i see her feeble attempts at appearing upper class) comes to lather butter up to the money machine. He does not touch her feet, he turns and walks away, showing his back, and asks if she was happy with the diamond necklace he sent her. Satisfied that she was, he wastes no time talking to her. Like he feeds her jewelry just to shut her up and get out of his way.

Vicky comes whining, like he did in his office earlier. Dev Dixit still has his Midas Touch. Everything he touches turns to gold and great profits. He had divided the company into his portion and Vicky's portion, and his is the one making all the huge profits. He leaves the company to Vicky, and comes once in a while to make a whale of a success and leaves. Even the company managers are eager to see him more than Vicky. Vicky sulks in a corner, like the failure that he knows that he is.

Now, What has Dev done to him? I have a feeling that is to come, for us to witness. Vicky was after all, instrumental to the events that lead to the breaking of Sonakshi's trust in him, the last straw that broke the overloaded camel's back. Vicky went and kicked the Boses out of their home, leading to Sonakshi's enraged rejection of him and his love.

For him is the second biggest revenge. Dev makes a huge profit in the company, which evidently Vicky isn't achieving, and abruptly shut down his side of the company, and leaves the reigns to Vicky solely.

There Vicky, you messed up my life, for this company. Now you have it all. But I don't come with it. Time to earn your dollars on your own. Here's a 500 crore head start, so that you don't come whining to me again. After all you're the brother I'm supposed to be obliged to take care of.

Wow. Masterstroke.

And the biggest punishment of all. To Ishwari.

Ishwari looks like a repentant woman , spending a life sentence in jail. Barely adorned, pale of face, head bowed in regret. She lives in her house, that she prided so much, with the family she insisted Dev take care and provide for, with none of the attachments to Dev.

Dev has punished her the hardest for the prenuptial agreement. She had placed a value on his marriage. She didn't care for his happiness, the happiness he felt when he had Sonakshi. Before letting him have the Love of his life, she had crookedly had him sign an agreement that insulted Sonakshi and Dev's love for each other. And she tried to pass it off as an ultimatum when he was at his lowest point in life, to safeguard herself, and her daughters.

Like he was nothing but a servant, a work-donkey, not a valued Son. Just a glorified provider.

So he provides. He comes with a smile, touches her feet, lays platitudes at her feet that she is his mother and he loves her and is thankful for her. Even Ishwari, knows it sounds hollow as she feels the barb with every light hearted platitude. She speaks her usual maternal emotional talk, but he walks away detached.

Everybody is happy in this house, everybody has whatever they want, I've done my job, Just leave me alone. And he walks out.

He runs into Elena. And something interesting happens. He is genuinely warm with her. I was a little puzzled by this, his statement also, You Bose girls never bothered to understand me. He is genuinely fond of Elena. I'm very curious about this bond.

And Elena, whom I had put aside as insensitive and shameless, showed an interesting side. I had stood by you guys through all this time, I don't deserve to be mocked, Dev. And Dev relents. Telling her, Your photography is really good , If there's anything that you need, please ask Vicky to get it for you, ok? 👏👏👏

The only fondness to her, is that she's a Bose, but her bond to Vicky does not make her important to him. Just another parasite.

Now, coming to the best part. Dev's face when he hears Sonakshi's name.

In the office, he hears that she is named Businesswoman of the Year, a shadow passes over his face. The loss, the pain, the misery of missing the woman you loved, the emptiness. His bright and sunny face, becomes tired and weary. The nights must be hard for him, when the memories of Sonakshi will haunt him when there is no other distraction. That must be why he flirts around with other women, trying to forget.

And that amazing moment when they lock eyes at the awards' event. Dev is every bit the hurt lover, the man who got dumped, because the woman he loved gave up on him. She chucked him out and left. He believed he tried his hardest, not knowing how his family was infested with parasites, but she didn't trust him.

She didn't trust him. She said she loved him no matter what.
She didn't trust that he loved her with all his heart. She was his heart.
But she left. It wasn't forever.

The pain is very much there, you can see it in his eyes. It's all Love, but under a layer of a lot of hurt and anger. Nope, he is not indifferent. It's a lover's anger, where you don't give surrounding family parasite troubles a darn squat.

You said you loved me, and you left me.

That's what I saw in Dev's eyes when he first saw her. He missed her tremendously, that pain was there, and he's angry with her. And in the precap, he is mocking her, as she tributes her rise to success to him (her ex).

She is cold and biting to him. Because Sonakshi is a hurt Lover too. She loved him selflessly, and got pushed into the wrong end by the parasites, OUT. So she turned and walked out.

But she didn't turn back even once.

Although it was because she had her hands full with Suhana, she'd had enough with Dev's spinelessness. But she sees and remembers Dev's Love everytime Suhana speaks, she's so much like Dev it stuns her.

Nope, Sonakshi is not indifferent to Dev. She's extremely angry at him, and hid it well, kept herself busy and distracted. She lost her dreamy smile, her cheerful, colorful disposition, everything that was once Sonakshi Bose.

Oh yes, these 2 are going to fight and throws barbs at each other, because the flip side of Immense Love, is Intense Hate. And then Suhana comes into the picture and it will change things. Still awhile yet I think. Some more fighting will be had.

I think, Golu and Suhana will be in school together, and these two will bond first.

This became long, just saw 2 episodes at once.
Do let me know how you feel, I may not have time to reply, but I always read and enjoy and like..
Thanks!

Brilliant write -up 👏👏👏 , you explained every bit of emotions that went through Dev beautifully . I loved the intensity in their eyes during the meeting , at least there is still one person Dev can't be indifferent after all these years !!!

Humm... Yes, I agree. The indifference is obviously fake. But I didn't see an ounce of remorse in Dev for his part in breaking up the marriage. He may not know what Vicky did behind his back. But he knew what Sonakshi had put up for his family, for him. He knew how she was treated. He knew that he never stood up for her and he knew how he threw her out and what he said to her.
Yet, he is behaving as if he is the injured party.

That is something I can't digest.

Sonakshi was not just broken by his family, she was broken by him, his lies, his false promises and his lack of actions.

I don't see a chance of redemption until he admits his mistakes.

Thank you! It took quite a lot of words 😆

Yes, Dev is very much hung up on her. And he seems to have kept tabs on her too.

This Dev is new, not the soft and sentimental guy. But what is good is that neither has moved on with other people. But they may misunderstand that each other has though.

Hey Tia !😊

i think Dev knows exactly what his family did behind his back. I think that scene is coming up. I dunno for sure, but the fact that he is changed, is a sign of him accepting what he did was wrong.

He is still the dutiful son, but with no worshipful behaviour. He puts everybody in place non confrontationally, because he does not want to bother with the emotional baggage. He removes himself from fake platitudes of the parasites. He seems to have grown a spine.

I feel between lovers there is no hierarchy. One accepts the others' strength and weaknesses, not to change them into someone else. Sonakshi and Dev fell in love with each other,as they were. But the surrounding people didn't make life easy for them. Neither Ishwari and her side, nor Bijoy on the other side. People created issues for them to sort out, and heaped it all on these two, and they drowned.

There are 2 distinct feuds going on:

Dixits vs Boses

Sonakshi vs Dev

I think it was a time for leaning lessons. I think Sonakshi too has learnt to take her own decisions, and not to be influenced by Bijoy's anger. Just like Dev , with Ishwari.

Great write-up 👏. Enjoyed reading it .. Just wish that your take on Dev's approach to the transformed life of his, come true.. If only he doesn't throw the blame on Sonakshi for whatever he is today.. If only he accepts and takes it as the much needed transformation for his own good.. Not about the flirty attitude playing around with the girls 😆. But about the overall provider approach as a duty what he's bound to.. That was the long pending transformation in him.. He has been too much clinging and emotionally weak to everything around him in that Ishwari Nivas.. The detachment comes down hard on them but it happened only because everyone was resisting changes and now are forced to adapt to giant changes.😆 Good for them and if only Dev thinks that it is for good and not complain about it.. 😉
And gotta say that I am liking your version of Dev 2.0😉
