Ek Thi Rajkumari is the story of a young princess – Rajkumari Priyamvada who has never stepped out of her palace. After living a caged life for 18 years she now decides to run away from her palace and see the outside world. Her only desire is to taste freedom and live life like any other normal 18 year old girl. But, not knowing the worldly ways and unable to take the right decisions lands her into a whirlpool. The complication she has to face on her journey in life is what Ek Thi Rajkumari is all about.

The show is also laced with a candy floss romance leading to the love track between Arjun Singhaniya and Priya. They are like two stars who fall from the sky journeying towards each other but lose their way and gravitate towards the wrong person only to realize their mistakes much later on.

The USP of the show is that it's been shot majorly outside Mumbai unlike most other shows on tv today. The exterior of the house is shot at Pataudi Palace which is extremely huge and adds to the grandeur of the show. Shot extensively on Delhi roads people will get to watch, not only places like Chandni Chowk but also monuments like India Gate and Qutab Minar. The most romantic scene where the destined lovers meet each other was beautifully shot at the Red Fort.

The ensemble of cast comprises of Smita Jayakar, Rita Bahaduri, Paritosh Sand, Neha Marda, Ali Merchant, Ayushmann Khurana, Sakshi Talwar, Imran Khan, Anisha Hinduja, Vijay Aidasani, Prabha Sinha & others.

Produced by Anurradha Prasad the show airs every Mon – Thurs at 10 pm on Zee Next

Smita Jaykar returns to TV as a vamp

Veteran actress Smita Jaykar, last seen in Star Plus's show Kashmeer (2003), now marks her return to the small screen with Ek Thi Rajkumari on Zee Next. Surprisingly, the actress can't recall when she last did a TV serial.

Smita says, "I reckon it has been a good 12 years since I last worked on television. I don't even remember my last show."

So what brings her back to the small screen?
"Honestly speaking, television today is now on par with films. A few years ago, I was busy doing films, thus I could never get time for television. I guess now is the right time to do one. I wasn't doing much work for a while thus it gave an impression that I've called it quits. For an actor, it's important that you're seen on the screen," she answers.

Smtia is playing a negative character for the first time. "Years ago, I acted in a show called Adhikar, wherein my character did have grey shades but it's for the first time that I'm playing a full-fledged negative character. Though, I'm comfortable playing emotional roles, but versatility is a key trait of a good actor," quips Smita.

How will the audience view her in this new avatar?
"It will be a surprise for them. However, sometimes a soft face fits into a negative character perfectly," Smita informs.

The actress is not keen on doing the usual saaas-bahi kind of roles as she herself never sees such soaps. Television apart, the actress will soon be seen in Sooraj Barjatya's upcoming film Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi.
