I don't agree with this.

Bindusar was biased towards his first wife Charumitra and his eldest son Sushim. He wanted Sushim to succeed him after his death even though Ashok was more deserving than him.Ashok tried his best to prove to his father that he is the best by conquering kingdoms but still his father never acknowledged his victories.

Finally after Bindusar's death,Ashok had to use unfair means and became the king.

I agree usne galat tarike se emperor bana par he too had to struggle a lot.Bindusar ne usko kabhi nahi bola,"Beta, mere baad tu raja banega."

Chakravartin Ashok Samrat mein jo bhi dikhaya woh sab galat tha.

In those times elder son became king - that was the tradition

So nothing wrong in bindusara wanting sushim to be king

Bindusara wanted the eldest son to be king and a better human to be king that is all. Is that so wrong? Any father will want that only.

And ashoka was a voilent prince he was called chandal ashok by citizens of magadh he was so cruel
compared to sushim and other elder brothers

Will bindusara and citizens get dream that he will become bhuddist in his 50s and become better human? Every one must be scared at prospect that chandal ashok will become king next.

Its so easy to go around killing people till 45 years and then when you become aged at 50+ and conquered everything you want to say i am bhuddist i will not kill nowonwards etc. What about those lakhs you killed before?

See,I am not justifying Ashok's crimes.U said that he got the kingdom on a platter. I said he struggled a lot for the kingdom. That's it!Everybody struggled.
