Shakti-Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki started as a 'hatke' show on the small screen with the lead protagonist being a eunuch. The soap was termed as 'hard-hitting' and 'unique' by its producer Rashmi Sharma. But then if you follow it closely, the loopholes and flaws in the plot are quite evident and serve as a dent to the storyline.
Shakti is about the story of two sisters - Saumya (Rubina Dilaik) and Surbhi (Roshni Sahota). While Saumya is neglected by her father (played by Ayub Khan), Surbhi is the apple of his eyes. The two daughters have starkingly different personalities.
Shakti is highly melodramatic as we see Saumya scared like a fish and teary-eyed all the time. It only ruins the reputation of the transgender society, than builds it.
Also, it focuses on all the TRP fetching elements like romance between the lead couple and the fleeting moments of their physical attraction with each other. That certainly takes away from the bold issue that the show so wanted to highlight.
The episodes are stretched and look dragged. Many scenes give you time to yawn and look at your mobile screens. While Rubina needs to stop wailing and crying like a baby, Vivian needs to brush up his acting skills. Shakti only makes for an average affair and is nothing close to what it promised.
The show airs Monday to Friday at 8 pm on Colors.
