"Happy Birthday, papa" Madhu shrilled and hugged her father as soon as she spotted him in his study room working on his laptop.
"Hey, Princess, when did you come?" Malik asked Madhu kissing her forehead.
"Just now."
"Where is your husband?"
"He is parking the car."
"Oh"
"Okay, come now. We have a surprise for you."
"What surprise darling?" Malik asked as Madhu dragged him out of his study room.
"Doh! If I tell you then it won't be a surprise." Madhu said rolling her eyes.
"Wait" Madhu stopped him at the living room. "Make a guess of what could be your birthday present?" Madhu asked her father folding her arms over her chest and tapping her foot.
"Hmm... Watch?"
"Nope"
"Hmm... Pen?"
"Nope"
"Suit?"
"Nope"
"C'mon tell me Madhu?" Malik asked impatiently.
"I'm not going to tell but you are going to see" Madhu winked and walked out only to dash on Rk's hard chest.
"Careful, baby" Rk held her waist and steadied her. "So eager huh?" Rk asked with a smirk.
"Yep! So excited to show Papa what we have got for him" Madhu said grinning.
"Happy Birthday, Papa" Rk wished him and took his blessing by touching his feet.
"Thank you, beta. Jeetey raho"
"Okay, c'mon" Madhu hooked her hands on her men's hands and dragged them to the porch.
"What?" Malik asked finding nothing there. "Did you forget your gift at home?" He asked his daughter teasingly.
"Look who we have here" Madhu waved her hand to the entrance as the huge gate opened and there came a stunning car. Patil, Malik's driver parked the car and got down of it with a huge grin, feeling so lucky to drive a brand new car.
"OMG! Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe?" Malik asked in astonishment.
"Yep! You like it?" Madhu asked. Rk stood behind her hugging her waist leaning his chin on her shoulder smiling happily seeing Madhu's childish happiness.
"Of course, Darling. I love it." Malik kissed Madhu's cheek. "This surely is one of my favorite cars which I actually planned to get for myself and now you got it for me."
"Rishu only chose this car for you as you know he is an expert in cars" Madhu said looking back and smiling at Rk.
"Wonderful choice of car, beta. Thank you. I love the color."
"I only chose the color as I know you like grey color." Madhu said literally jumping. "And Papa, tomorrow you should come in this car only to office."
"Okay, I'll come in the new car and seal the new deal" Malik said winking at Rk. Rk just smiled politely and tightened his hold around Madhu waist.
Madhu tilted her head to her side and kissed Rk's neck.
Then they went in to have a family lunch. Rk and Madhu spent their time at Malik's mansion till evening and made him cut a cake specially baked by Madhu for her father. After cake cutting, they went back to their home.

All the members who tendered for the contract were presented in the conference hall in the Kapoor and Son's co. head quarters. Madhu sat opposite to her husband and nervously looked around the hall for her father to come. Half an hour back she called him and he said he was on his way and he will reach the office shortly but still he hadn't reached. Today K&S co. will decide with whom they will merge and work on the new project. Both Malik and Rk had the high possibility to win the deal as they were very potential competes.
Rk looked at Madhu who was nervously fidgeting her fingers. Rk asked what through his eyes. She shook her head and gave him a small smile.
"Papa, will come. Don't worry" he mouthed at her understanding her worry.
"I know" She smiled back. Whoever wins, she will be so happy for both of them though she worked really hard for her father's company but she won't mind if her husband seals the deal too as he worked pretty hard too and it will be one milestone success for his company.
Half an hour later, the meeting started but still Malik hadn't shown his appearance.
"Papa, where are you? I hope you are safe" Madhu worriedly sent a silent prayer. Rk wanted to walk around the table and take his wife in his arms and comfort her but he couldn't as they were in the meeting.
Once the president of K&S co. Mr. Kapoor gave his brief speech about the new project he decided to announce the company's name of whose tender had been selected.
"Well folks, I feel proud to announce that our company will be working with Mr. Rishab Kundra." There erupted a huge applause and Rk was congratulated by people presented in the meeting. He shook their hands and politely smiled but his eyes were on Madhu. She looked at him and gave him a genuine smile feeling so happy and proud of his accomplishment. Right then Madhu got a call from an unknown number. She answered the call and her eyes widen in shock and tears started following from her eyes.
Madhu hurriedly grabbed her purse and rushed out of the conference room leaving Rk puzzled.
"It's a real pleasure to work with you in this project Mr. Kundra."
"Likewise, Mr. Kapoor" Rk forced a smile. His mind was completely elsewhere. He was anxious to know who called Madhu which made her cry and rush out in a hurry.
He quickly signed the contract and excused himself to follow Madhu leaving his PA Bittu Sharma to handle the remaining proceedings.

Rk tried Madhu's phone but she didn't answer so he just followed her car. He got so worried when she parked her car outside City Hospital.
Rk rushed and caught up with her at the elevator.
"What's wrong, Madhu? Why are you crying?" Rk asked her. She just cried hugging him.
"Madhu, you are scaring me. Please tell me what's wrong? Why are we here?" Rk asked again. "Is Papa okay?" Rk asked making a guess that it must be something to do with Malik.
"Rishu, papa... papa met with an accident. I got a call from this hospital. I don't know how he is now. I am so scared." She sobbed clutching his arms tightly.
"Madhu, baby... please don't cry. Papa will be fine." Rk said rubbing her back. Once they got out of the elevator they headed straight to the room where Malik was admitted. Right in time, the doctor walked out of the room and Rk stopped him asking about Malik's condition.
"You are his?" Doctor asked.
"I'm his son in law Rishab. She is his daughter Madhubala. How is he, Doc?"
"He is fine by God's grace. Just a minor fracture on his left hand and some scraps on his head otherwise nothing to worry."
"Thank Goodness" Rk sighed in relief hugging Madhu tightly. He worried that she will fall if he releases his hold on her.
"But his driver... is in critical condition as you see the truck hit the front side of the car"
"Oh... Doctor, please try your best to save his life." Rk said.
"We will Mr. Rishab. Now if you will excuse me?" Doctor asked.
"Can... can we met my father?" Madhu asked finally finding her voice.
"Yes, of course. He is conscious only. You can meet him but don't make him strain much. Let him take rest."
"Sure, Doc" Rk said and took Madhu to Malik's room.

"Papa" Madhu cried as she ran straight to his bed side and hugged him.
"Madhu, I'm okay. Stop crying darling" Malik caressed Madhu's head with his uninjured hand lovingly.
"I was so scared, papa"
"I know. I can see." Malik smiled and wiped her tears from her cheeks.
"How is Patil, Rishab?" Malik asked turning to Rk.
"He is in critical condition, papa... but I hope he will make it"
"God willing, he will."
"What happened, papa?" Rk asked taking Malik's hand in his. "Do you think it's an accident or an attempt to harm you?"
Madhu looked at Rk with a frown. She didn't thought of any other possibilities till Rk pointed it out. Could her father be attacked by his rivals? Then who could it be? She wondered.
"I don't know, Rishab. Police is doing their investigation. Let's see what they say." Malik shrugged.
"You should be careful, papa. We can't take this incident lightly." Rk warned him.
"I know. I will be careful. So far the police said the truck driver was drunk and he went out of control and hit my car..." his voice trail thinking about the gory accident though he was lucky to survive with minor injuries.
"Sad thing my new car is totally smashed." Malik said shaking his head.
"It's okay, papa. You don't use that car. It's very unlucky for you. just yesterday we gifted the car to you and today it brought you here..." Madhu said sobbing again. She hated herself now for giving that damned car as a birthday gift to her father.
"Madhu, it has nothing to do with the car. This accident could have happened even when he was traveling in his old car..." Rk tried to reason her but she just glared at him. It was his idea to get him a car so she was mad at him.
"So what happened in the meeting?" Malik asked to change the topic.
"They awarded the project to Rishu" Madhu said without any excitement. She was so concerned for her father.
"Oh. Congratulation, Rishab, you deserve it for your hard work." Malik shook Rishab's hand and patted his shoulder.
"Even I had put my full effort and worked day and night in this project so it was not only him who worked hard, papa" Madhu said. She didn't know why she was suddenly feeling jealous of her own husband that he got the contract and her father. "So I am pretty disappointed that our hard work didn't pay off." She said crossing her arms looking away. She couldn't see the hurtful look on Rk's eyes. She felt guilty the moment the words escaped out of her mouth.
She was so frustrated and scared for her father's health and she was venting it out by hurting the love of his life. She should feel so happy for his success but she was being a bitch here. She yelled at herself in her head.
"It's okay, Madhu. Next time surely you will win an even better and bigger deal than this." Rk said with a smile understanding her state of mind. She was in an emotional wreck.
She just nodded her head and hesitantly smiled at him.
"Well, Rishab, take your wife and feed her something. She looks like she will faint any minute."
"Sure, papa" Rk said and walked around the bed and took her hand in his.
"No, I am not hungry. I will stay here with papa. You go have your lunch."
"Madhu, I know you want to be with your papa and I am not stopping you. We are just heading down to the hospital canteen and we will have something quick and return here."
"No, please"
"Madhu beta, listen to your husband and go have something."
"But papa..."
"I need some rest too. I will take a nap till then you eat your lunch and come."
"Okay." Madhu reluctantly agreed and walked out with Rk.

Once they stepped into the vacant elevator and doors got shut, Madhu hugged him and started crying.
"Hey, stop crying. You saw for yourself that papa is fine then why are you crying?" Rk asked in confusion. He just held her and rubbed her back to soothe her.
"Sorry. I'm so sorry." She whispered, feeling ashamed to even look at him.
"Look at me" Rk tipped her head up holding her chin.
"Why are you saying sorry?"
"I got jealous of you winning the contract."
"No, you weren't jealous. I know that for sure. I saw the genuine smile in your face when they announced my name to be the one who won the contract." Rk reassured her.
"But just now I said I was disappointed..."
"Yes, you said so because you were stressed over the accident thing."
"But still I shouldn't have said that. I should only feel happy for my husband's success."
"C'mon Madhu... Even I would have felt disappointed if I had won the deal so it's normal to react that way." Rk said so to appease her.
"You know you are such a sweetheart." she said with a smile and kissed his cheek.
"I know" he said pompously with a wink making Madhu burst in laughter.

I have made you all wait really too long for this story... too bad of me to do so... I'm sorry but thanks to you all for waiting, patiently!
I'm planning to end this story in another 3 or 4 parts!
