Chapter 1

Family Dinner

"Hi.. Raman.. Raman Bhalla..!" Raman forwarded his hands but Ishita seemed freeze at her position. Raman waited for her reply but her eyes simply glued on his gesture. Raman flicked his eye brow pointing at his hand, Ishita looked at his hand.. It was like her world stopped, she forgot whatever happening around her, she even forgot she was holding her phone near to her ear and Sanjh was continuously asking to behave normal but it seemed her words didn't reach Ishita's ear.

Ishita looked at Raman's hand and moved her hand from her ear and suddenly the phone slipped from her hand, bringing her back to normal. She looked at her broken phone and then looked at Raman and realized what she was doing all the time..! Ishita quickly composed herself and stammered, "I.. I extremely sorry.."

"It's okay.." Raman smiled at her and walked to her side. "I think, I should be sorry. For me, your phone broke." He said with a mischievous smile when Ishita looked on embarrassed. Raman smirked and bend to collect the broken phone but at the same time, Ishita also bend to collect when their heads hit with each other.

"Ouch..!" They said in unison. Raman rubbed his forehead when Ishita said, "Let's do it again..!"

"What?" He asked unbelief.

"Oho.. It says if we hit heads once, horn can grow up on our heads." She said Innocently. But at the same time she chided herself saying, "What rubbish you are saying Ishita..!" She looked at Raman thinking he must be laughing on her but saw him staring at her, Ishita gave him a fade smile.

"You're silly.." He said and gets up. Raman handed her the broken phone, "I am sorry. I am late..!"

"It's okay. You might be busy.. I understand." She smiled at him and thought, "What you are saying Ishita.. You were angry on him. But you are behaving so lovey dovey.. Huh..!"

She was so lost in her own world when Raman snapped his fingers near to her eyes saying, "Did you say something?"

"Me..? No..!"

"Okay.. Then have a sit.." Raman said and took his sit, Ishita also sits opposite to him and gave him a smile. "What would you like to have Ms Iyer?"

"Coffee..!"

Raman smirked at he looked at the table and said, "But I guess, you had drink enough coffee.. Why don't you try something else?" Ishita looked on embarrassed.

Raman then ordered some soft drink for themselves. Then he looked at Ishita who was nervously playing with her knuckles. "Be comfortable Ms Iyer..!"

"Yeah.. Yeah.. I am..."

"Then why are you sweating?" Raman said pointing at her forehead when Ishita touched her forehead, Raman continued, "I guess here AC is working properly."

"Yeah..! It's just...!" She wiped her sweats.

The next few minute passed silently. Ishita tried hard to control herself not to stare at him but she ends up ogling at him. Ishita was very carefully noticing Raman's every move as he was busy in his phone. Just then, waiter served them the drinks.

"Thank you."

Another silent moment passed when finally Raman broke the silent. "Ugh.. Ms Iyer?"

"Huh..?"

"Do you know why we meet here?" He asked when Ishita nodded looking down.

"Why did you agree to marry me?" Raman asked going through his phone.

Ishita straight looked at him saying, "I don't.." And she bite her lips as she knew it was slip of tongue.

Raman narrowed his eyes asking, "Then why did you agree to meet me?"

"I didn't want...!" Raman again sarcastically looker at her. "I.. I.. Didn't mean it..!" She sighed with closing eyes and took deep breath. "Okay.. I don't want to marry now... Actually I am not comfortable with the thought of arranged marriage.. I mean, how can you spend your entire life on someone else's choice...!"

"So basically you prefer love marriage. Right?"

"Yeah..! But fortunately or unfortunately I don't have any boyfriend and amma appa now hell behind me to get married. They said I am getting old and all.." She said rolling her eyes.

"Okay..! So, you aren't interested in his alliance. Then I don't think, there's need anymore discussion." Saying this Raman was about to get up when Ishita instantly said, "Hey wait..! I didn't say, I am not interested."

Raman looked at her shockingly and again he took his sit. "See.. Ms Ishita.. Marriage isn't a puppet game.. It's about lifetime togetherness. Right?"

"Yeah.. I totally get you. But honestly I hadn't think that I would change my decision after meeting with you but now I guess.." She paused.

"See..! Even I don't believe in this arranged marriage thought, my family was forcing me from last few days and now finally I gave up..! Yes, you are beautiful.." As Raman complement her, she blushed. "But I am not sure whether we are compatible for each other or not..! So, if we want to take another step in this relationship, then I prefer we should meet for another few times, if we feel comfortable with each other then we can go ahead."

"Yeah.. Okay.. I am fine with it." She said casually.

"Then if you don't mind shall we leave? I have a meeting." Raman said.

"Yeah.. Sure..!"

Raman smiled and paid the bill. They took leave from there. They walked out from the cafe when Raman offered, "Do you want me to drop you somewhere?"

"No.. Thank you but I have my scooty." She said with a smile.

"Sure?"

"Yeah..!" Raman nodded on her reply and put his sun glass on his eyes and turned to leave when Ishita suddenly said, "Drive safely.." Raman turned at her amazed, no one ever said to him like this, he could feel the concern in her words, he smiled, "Yeah.. You too.."

"So, how's he?" Vandita asked once Ishita walked in her house.

"Akka.. Let me settle on the sofa first.. You all forgot the manners.. I just returned, at least ask for water." She sighed.

"Stop drama queen..! Tell me how's he?" Vandita asked curiously asked.

"Yeah okay.."

"Just okay?" She asked disbelief.

"Yeah.. Then what do you want to hear? Should I say.. He is handsome, he is dashing..?"

"Oho..! Then someone find him handsome, dashing.." Vandita teased her when Ishita blushed but tried hard not to show to anyone.

"Who is handsome?" Suddenly Shravan came there running.

"Shravu.. Your chitti finds your chittiappa." Vandita teased.

"Chittiappa? Where's he? Ishu chitti does he look more handsome than me?" Shravan cutely asked.

"Noo..! My Shravu is more handsome than him." As Ishita said Vandita looked at her sarcastically as Ishita indirectly used 'handsome' word for Raman. Ishita instantly replied, "I mean.. He isn't handsome..!"

"Yeah yeah.. We got it. You don't need to explain." Vandita laughed when Ishita looked on embarrassed.

"So, is it yes?" Mr Iyer asked Ishita in the lunch time.

"Appa, I met with him first time.. How would I take decision on first meeting and even Raman..." Everyone looked at her shocked hearing his name from her mouth, "I mean Mr Bhalla.. He even not comfortable, so we decided we will meet for another few times and then we will think on this."

"Oh.. If it's so then let's organize a family dinner tonight. What say Madhu?" Mr Iyer excitedly asked.

"Yeah, that's nice idea."

"Okay then done.. I'll invite the Bhalla's over here tonight." Mr Iyer said and called Mr Bhalla and invited them for a dinner.

"They are coming tonight."

"Oho..! Ishu... Another chance to meet with your handsome." Vandita whispered near to Ishita's ear who just shrugged off her shoulder in pretend that she doesn't care but in actual she feels goosebumps in her stomach.

Raman leaned back on his leather chair when Mihir asked, "How was your meeting?"

"Yeah.. That was nice.. She is beautiful." Raman replied with closed eyes.

"Raman.. I am asking about the business meeting. But it seems you aren't get over from your morning meeting." Mihir teased with a smile when Raman opened his eyes instant and looked at Mihir embarrassed.

"So, you find the girl beautiful. What's her name..!" Mihir scratched his forehead in manner to remember when Raman said, "Ishita..!"

"Yeah. Ishita.. Then is it yes?" Mihir sarcastically asked.

"Do you think so?" Raman asked back.

"God Raman when you likes her then say it yes..!"

"Dude..! Let me handle it in my way.." Just then Raman's phone rang, he received the call when Mrs Bhalla informed him about the dinner, so Raman replied, "Okay.. I'll be there on time."

Ishita was taking out all her dresses from her wardrobe and messed her room, "What should I wear?" She tried few western dresses but didn't like them.

"Aiyo..! What has happen with me? I never do such mess with my dresses.. God knows what has happen today."

"It says love fever..!" Ishita turned at the entrance as she saw Vandita was standing, leaning at the door.

"Akka.. Stop pulling my leg. It's not love..!"

"Then why are you dressed up so nicely?" Vandita asked curious.

"I should represent myself well." She rolled her eyes. "By the way, help me.. How's this one?" She asked placing a dress on her body.

"Let it be.. Try something traditional."

"You mean saree?" She asked.

"No, you can try salwar suit.. Usually boys likes to see their finance or would be wife in some traditional attire in front if their family. So, may be Raman also wants so..!"

"Akka.. I am not his fiance neither his would be wife. So, I won't change my style. I am going to wear which makes me comfortable." Ishita said arrogantly and left from there taking a dress.

"Welcome Mr Bhalla..!" Mr and Mrs Iyer greeted the Bhalla family. "Welcome Raman beta..!" Raman took blessings from them and they settled on the sofa.

"Iyer Sahib... Where's Ishita?" As Mrs Bhalla asked for her, Raman scanned the leaving room to get a glimpse of her but she wasn't show up anywhere.

"She might be getting ready." Mrs Iyer said and signaled Vandita to check on her. She was going to call her when Ishita climbed down the stairs, "There she is..."

Raman slightly turned back to get a glimpse, and his eyes stuck on her. She was wearing a beautiful white salwar with blue embroidery works. Raman couldn't move his eyes from her. Ishita walked to them and took blessings when she felt Raman's gaze on her, to confirm it, she looked at him and get lost in his eyes. They shared an beautiful eye lock when Vandita slightly shook her and they both looked away embarrassed.

The family was sharing a gala time together when from somewhere Shravan came and directly went to Raman asking, "Are you going to be my chittiappa?" That caught everyone's attention when Raman had no idea what to say and Ishita was blushing profusely.

"If your chitti likes him then he will be your chittiappa." Mrs Bhalla said smilingly.

"My chitti likes you. He even call you handsome." As Shravan said, Ishita tried to hide her face when Raman looked at her reddish face and everyone laughed on his little master's words.

All the family members were busy in talking but Raman and Ishita was sitting silently in middle of them, actually they were busy in stealing glances when Mrs Iyer said, "Ishu.. Why are you sitting here? Go with Raman and show him the house."

"No.. It's okay aunty." He denied.

"Raman, go.. What will you both do in middle of the olders."

Raman looked at Ishita who slightly nodded her head in a gesture to proceed.

"Your house is beautiful." Raman complement.

"Thank you."

They stood near a photo frame when Raman looked at it with intensity. "It's so beautiful."

"I made this one.. When I was in first year in my college, I took part in art competition and there I won first prize for this photo."

"Oh..! So you are artist..!" Raman said impressed.

"No, it's my passion." She smiled at him, "This way..!"

They entered in Ishita's study room and Raman was completely shocked seeing the huge book shelf. "And this is my study room."

Raman walked to one shelf where she kept her prizes. "Are these yours?"

"Any doubt?"

"No.. Just asking." He smiled.

He then walked to the book shelf and saw few books when he curiously asked, "Law books?"

"Yes. I studied in Law..!"

"What?" He asked shocked.

"Yeah..! But recently I finished my study, now I am only practicing. Didn't take any case yet." She said.

"Okay.. Nice.. I hope you achieve your goals soon." He said smiling.

Then they walked in the garden, "And this is our garden. Isn't it beautiful?" She asked turning at him.

"Yes but not much than you. You are looking beautiful tonight." As Raman said, she shyly looked down. Her heart started beating so fast under his gaze, there was silent around but their eyes speaks. Ishita shyly turned to leave when Raman called, "Ishita?" Her feet automatically stopped hearing her name. Her name sounds more beautiful from his mouth, she shyly turned at him when Raman walked to her.

"I hope you don't mind if I call you Ishita."

"No Ra..." But she paused.

"You can call me." She smiled. "Actually Ishita, I have something for you." Ishita looked on curious when Raman takes out a gift box from his pocket and forward to her.

"What's in it?"

"Go ahead."

Ishita took it from him and opened it and found a phone. "Phone?"

"Yeah.. Actually today your phone broke, so I thought.."

"But Raman I can't accept it. It's so expensive. And it won't look good if I accept it. You are still a stranger for me." She said in a breathe.

"If it's bothering you then we can do one thing. Why don't we give a name to this relation?" Ishita looked at him confuse when Raman forward his hand asking, "Ms Ishita Iyer will you be my friend?"

Ishita looked at him for sometimes when Raman said, "Only friends, nothing else."

Ishita laughed and shook her hand with him. "Now I hope you don't have problem."

"But..!" She hesitated.

"I insist.. Please keep it." Ishita nodded with a smile, just then Shravan came there running and informed them to have dinner. Ishita looked at Raman, he said, "You go..! I am coming." Ishita left.

"It was nice dinner with you all Mr Iyer." Mr Bhalla said.

"Now, we all will just wait for our kids decision then we can go ahead one more step." Mrs Bhalla said to Mrs Iyer looking at Ishita who shyly looked down.

"Ishita puttar, we have so much expectations from you both. Please don't disappoint us." Mrs Bhalla said caressing Ishita's hair.

Soon Bhalla's bid adieu. Everyone came out to see off them when Ishita saw Raman standing near the car. "Ishu, go and talk with Raman.. He is standing there alone." Ishita nodded and walked to him.

"Hi..!" She smiled.

"Hi.."

They didn't say anything further as they were lost of words when Ishita looked at their family and said, "Our families are so happy isn't?"

"Yeah..!" He replied and looked at Ishita, "Ishita?"

"Huh..?"

"Today I got to know much things about you and if you compare it to me then you don't know anything about me. Don't you want to know anything?"

"Raman.. This is the second time we met.. And if we get to know each other on first day then there won't be any excitement in next meetings. Right?" She asked with a smile.

"So, you expect another meeting?" He asked with a teasing smile.

"If you want then.."

"I hope I make you comfortable during our talk session because the way you were behaving in the morning..." He laughed.

"I am sorry for that..."

"It's okay.. It's not your fault. Actually my charm works on everyone." And he winked making her blush.

Just then their families arrived there, Raman Ishita took blessings from Iyers and Bhalla's and Mr and Mrs Bhalla gets into the car.

"Bye, take care." Raman said to Ishita.

"You too.. And drive safely." She said smiling, Raman nodded and soon they took leave.
