Channels post ratings of their highest rated programs only. These are based on the ratings received from Media Logic. The method of gathering ratings has been questioned time and again but right now channels rely on these ratings to get ads. There is no single reliable source to get the ratings of all the shows in one place.

Nope a drama serial doesn't end because of low ratings. It is simply moved out of the prime time slot like this drama Farwa ki ABC did so bad in ratings it was given a strange time slot of 5 pm.

I've never heard of any show getting axed due to low ratings :) At the most, the channel airs mega (double) episodes or twice/thrice a week at odd timings to finish it off. But yes if the serial is doing good in ratings the channel asks for more episodes. Example Mann Mayal and Shukk

That sucks because it was such a good show. It was legit funny without resorting to tasteless humour or slapstick comedy.
