DAKSH THE CATALYST, AS OPPOSED TO DAKSH THE CUPID:

I know we all so wanted Daksh to be the secret cupid for
Shivika when he first arrived to OM, me included. I think I even went to the
extent of wishing that it was a plan that Om and Daksh may have hatched
together to get " Bone-Headed Singh Oberoi" to realize his mistake in marrying
Tia. But alas, it was not to be so and I sulked silently at why Ms. Gul had
thrown such a good chance away.

But as time passed and Daksh the obsessive negative character
developed I began to see the significance he would have in bringing about
Shivika. His negativity would have more of an impact on them than playing a
mere cupid. As a cupid Daksh would have only tricked Shivvay into admitting
that he was a jealous rival and make him act on those emotions. It is way too
soon to expect Shivvay, or Annika for that matter, to fall in love. There has
been no buildup of anything but mere attraction and the need to protect each
other as of now. Love is still a very distant country and the journey has not
yet begun. But we have the foundation of love being laid right now and as we
all agree it is TRUST.

The basis of any relationship be it friends, parents,
siblings or spouse is strengthened on the basis of trust. More importantly, YOUR level of trust in relation to them not so much as whether they have earned or deserve that trust. We trust our parents as it is a natural instinct - it comes from 'feelings'. We trust a friend or distrust them again mostly on the basis of feeling and so on and so forth.

Right now as it stands, Shivvay trusts and respects Tia because
she has risen to the occasion multiple times and has gone a step further to overlook
and forgive Annika's attempts to disgrace her. I agree, Tia is one sharp girl.
Annika has, on the other hand, proven to be impulsive and reckless in her
conclusions about Tia betraying him. So if you stack the cold, clinical facts of Tia and Annika - Tia wins. It is what anyone with a logical mind would do. Elementary My Dear Watson! But even Sherlock listened to his gut and tuned in his instinct like a blood hound when he was on a case. It is not because he had studied the human psychology but because was always open to learning something new. That is where Shivvay's weakness lies, his preconceived notions about the lower middle class even though his grandfather belonged to that same social class. I will not mention Pinky as she only serves to strengthen his belief rather than break it down.

With Daksh coming on to the scene now
Shivvay has been placed in the position that Annika was in. Shivvay will now be
crying wolf?" not Annika. His attempts
to expose Daksh might be met with the same failure as Annika's did.

But that is not what Daksh's role is supposed to bring
about. Daksh is the much needed catalyst to bring about that change in Shivvay
that needs to be deeper than the attraction and possessiveness he feels for
Annika. Shivvay needs to trust his feelings for Annika more than he needs to
trust Annika herself. He did say to Om that his heart could not believe Annika
could be the person Tia said she was but since he thinks with is mind the
logical explanation would be that Tia is right. Tia has never been wrong or
vindictive so why would she start now?
TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE:
Shivvay has a trust issue but it is not with Annika, it is
with himself. He does not trust HIS INNER SELF - HIS INSTINCT that Om has tried
time and again to awaken in his brother. Shivvay needs not only to open all his
senses, which he has done already, but now he needs to START trusting them. He feels
her presence, he senses her moods, he understands her actions, silences and
even the subtle meaning of her sentences, he can feel his whole body respond to
any and all reactions she may be having to fear or pain, no matter that she is
in another part of town. He knows her ups and her downs, he smiles when she is
happy and is sad when she is unhappy, he feels her indecisiveness and makes the
decision on her behalf (the proposal) with the certainty that it is a "no". And
that is the connection HE has fine-tuned with respect to anything that is
Annika.

He shares everything with his brothers but this ESP
connection that is a part of him and her he has kept jealously guarded to
himself till recently. It has been his special thing that he has savored and
enjoyed - his private treasure to guard.
No one and nothing, neither Om nor Rudra, compelled him to do that, it was what he did
all on his own. Even the object of his connection is not aware of how he does
it and has questioned him with a puzzled look many times.

And how right he has
been all the times in the past in reading this connection. But what happened today? How could he have completely misread it today??? What went wrong??? How did she say the opposite of what he
said?? He thought he could read, feel, respond and identify with all that she
is? What has changed?? Those are the
questions buzzing in his head and unfortunately the answer lies within him.
Till Shivvay realizes that it is HE who changed not Annika because he failed to
sense her with all his senses he cannot begin his journey whether it is with
Tia or Annika.

So you see that is where Daksh's one night stand comes in.
It is the ultimate litmus test for Shivvay and his so called ESP. Does he trust
it or does he not? Annika's body language and her subtle gestures should be
easy for him to read if he is that tuned to her. Her dislike of Tia and the
many questions in her eyes should be clue enough for him to realize something
is amiss. Just like the puzzled look he gave when she asked him if he had
handed the money to Tia to give it to her. He needs to pause and act on those
feelings not brush them aside, he needs to trust his instinct about her and follow it and most of all he needs to balance
his heart and mind which are not in sync even though he claims that they are.
