Jodhaa Akbar

Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai's much-awaited Jodhaa Akbar releases on February 15. Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, the historical film was shot on a lavish set constructed at Karjat, near Pune. Must-watch for the recreation of history, one can see Aishwarya Rai as Jodhaa Bai and Hrithik Roshan as Jalaluddin Mohammad Akbar. Others in the cast include Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Suhasini Mulay, Sonu Sood, Poonam (Shatrugan) Sinha, and Ila Arun among others. Release Date: February 15, 2008

Tashan

The film which broke many hearts, even before its release! Tashan is Saif Ali Khan's second project with Yash Raj Films, also starring Akshay Kumar and Anil Kapoor. Even though Ta Ra Rum Pum didn't do too well, Saif's in form. And so is Kareena, after delivering a hit in Jab We Met. We can't wait to see the chemistry of this off-screen couple! The film is directed by theatre personality Vijay Krishna Acharya. Release Date: April 25, 2008

Halla Bol

Raj Kumar Santoshi's Halla Bol promises to be a hard-hitting tale. Ajay Devgan plays a theatre actor who goes on to become a superstar. He gets so engrossed in his roles that he soon loses track of reality. The film is about how he transforms from a real-life hero from a reel one. Vidya Balan plays Ajay's better-half and Pankaj Kapur, his mentor. Release Date: January 11, 2008

Bombay to Bangkok

Nagesh Kukunoor, better known for his hat ke films, is ready with yet another gem. Bombay to Bangkok is a comedy starring Nagesh's favourite Shreyas Talpade, Lina Christianson, Vijay Maurya, Yatin Karyekar, Manmeet Singh, Sharad Wagha and Surender Kumar among others. Naseeruddin Shah, another fav of Nagesh, makes a special appearance.

The film is produced by Subhash Ghai, Elahe Hiptoola and Rahul Puri under Mukta Searchlight Films'. Bombay to Bangkok promises to have good music, with five music directors: Salim and Sulaiman Merchant, Ronnie Shirish, Sukhwinder Singh and Pritam Chakraborty. Release Date: January 11

Race

Abbas-Mustan have been going through a lull in their recent films. But this multi-starrer thriller promises to change everything for the 'brothers in white'. Of course, Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Katrina Kaif, Sameera Reddy and Bipasha Basu are reason enough for fans to check out this glossy scam saga. The film has some lavish sets and is supposed to present Saif in a rough-n-tough look like never before. Release Date: February 22, 2008

Singh Is King

It's Welcome meets Namastey London in a nutshell. How? Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif star in this comedy produced by Vipul Shah and directed by Anees Bazmi. Shot in Australia, Akshay has reportedly done some dare devil action sequences that would be sure delights for his fans. Going by the title, and Akshay's popularity in the overseas market, this will definitely be a grosser abroad. Release Date: August 15 2008

Drona

It's Abhishek Bachchan's turn to save the world. This superhero flick is directed by Goldie Behl and has Priyanka Chopra opposite Junior B. Incidentally, Priyanka will also be a part of Love Story 2050, a lavish, futuristic, action saga. Tabloid reports suggest that Abhishek has already started working towards his six–pack abs look for this film. Will Drona beat Krrish? Let's leave it at that... Release Date: June 27, 2008

Bhootnath

Well, Big B and SRK will be seen together again. So what's new in that? Well, this is the film where the two actors shot just when the cold war was intensifying (In K3G, Bachchan was still a respected senior for SRK, not an arch rival). Apparently, producer Ravi Chopra had a tough time wrapping up the film because none of the two were ready to give dates. Bhoothnath also stars Juhi Chawla. It's a children's film on the lines of Casper - The Friendly Ghost. As for most film buffs, it will be a chance to see the two legends sharing screen space, perhaps for the last time. Release Date: Expected in April 2008

God Tussi Great Ho

It's an Indianised version of the hit Jim Carrey movie, Bruce Almighty. Here, Bachchan plays God and Salman plays the guy who gets to be God. It's got Priyanka Chopra again and is directed by Rumi Jaffrey. The filmmaker had a tough time getting the actors together on the sets. The film arouses curiosity because everyone seemed to be fighting with the other on the sets. While Salman and Big B were maintaining a distance for obvious reasons, Priyanka and Sallu were not on talking terms. The two had a fight on the sets of Salaam -E-Ishq. The film is now complete. Let's see if Big B and Salman can recreate the Carrey-Freeman magic. Release Date: March 22, 2008

Sarkaar Raj

Never mind the superflops such as RGV Ki Aag, Go and Nishabd. Audiences are ready to give Ram Gopal Varma another chance with Sarkaar Raj. The film is a sequel to the director's Sarkaar, which was inspired by Coppola's The Godfather. Sarkaar Raj boasts of an original story. Well, we're waiting to see if their performances and the direction can match up to the original.

The film sees Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan coming together again after Bunty Aur Bubli. Release Date: May 23, 2008

What are some films

Where you were rooting for the pairing of the lead actor/actress with the second lead/side character instead of with the main one?
