Rowling gives hope for 8th Potter book

Millions of Harry Potter fans have a reason to celebrate, after author J.K. Rowling hinted of plans to add an eighth book to the boy wizard franchise.

The author, who has been ranked third in Time magazine's Person of the Year list, brought the series to an end earlier this year (07), with the release of the seventh novel, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows.

However, the 42-year-old author has admitted to having felt the temptation to revisit the world of Hogwarts just one more time, although the story may no longer be built around the title character.

"There have been times since finishing, some weak moments, when I've said, 'Yeah, all right', to an eighth novel," Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

"But if - and it's a big if - I ever write an eighth book about the wizarding world, I doubt Harry would be the central character," she added.

I wouldn't want Harry to be the central character if she wrote another one, I'd rather read about the children of the DA.

I hear it's an encyclopedia of things she didn't get to add into the books so she's basically going to be writing about everyone...and everything (that's one large book). She has kept all her notes.
Mind you, she said that it may take her up to, if not longer, then 10 years (so don't hold your breath guys) to finish the book because she wants to do a "good job of it" and she doesn't want to "rush it".
Not an exact quote but something along the lines.

I, for one, am looking forward to this installment. I would assume, though, that, since it's out of sequence from the regular series of the books (years 1-7), that it's either the 3rd book (counting only this Encyclopedia, "Quidditch Through The Ages" and "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them") or the 10th book (counting in the original series).

hp 8 buk will b so exciting..........but fer sure it wont b about harry potter cuz itz 19 yrs l8r wid him already..........so all i hav left, is 2 wunder; wat ever will she rite about?? stuff like an encyclopedia and DA sounds cool............but guyz...........DA wid hoo? itz already 19 yrs l8r!!! plus, she dint mention anytin abt wat harry becomes, prolly an auror but hoo noz? 👏

From what I've heard, it's not going to be a chapter or a story book. It's just various stuff she had thought of like people, places, things about the HP world that she didn't get a chance to incorporate into any of her published books so far, somewhat like she has done with "Quidditch Through The Ages" and "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them".

JKR's October 2007 "Wizard of the Month" had this to say about Harry Potter.
"The Boy Who Lived, only known survivor of the Avada Kedavra curse and conqueror of Lord Voldemort, also known as Tom Riddle. Harry Potter joined the reshuffled Auror Department under Kingsley Shacklebolt at age 17, rising to become Head of said department in 2007."

So Harry does indeed become an Auror.

I am sure that whatever her 8th book is gonna be, its not gonna be Harry Potter-8...nor do I wANT ANOTHER DOSE..Quite Happy with the seven books presently..One more will be overdose...
